thank you for you help so far, just need to only use the 10.42.0.1 DHCP and were done, until I enable 802.11r later hopefully I can do that myself, then need to replace the RE450 with the Multy M1 but that can wait till next year
so just need to disable and pass on DHCP
I asked multiple times if this was your eventual goal (there was a reason and I warned you), you didn't mention it again til now.
We covered this discussion 2 times already:
OK, best wishes in 2024!
what is the issue with fast roaming, 500ms will not be as bad as 20 seconds
and if I can not disable DHCP, this is not setup how I need it
I don't understand the statement. You haven't setup fast roaming, that's the issue.
Next time, maybe you should put all your wishes in 1 post.
You can disable DHCP, but then you must use Static IPs. Additionally the IPs cannot be from a conflicting IP range, we just fixed that and discussed it.
will 192.168.2.1 devices be able to connect with 192.168.3.1 devices
I am a smart TV with airplay so they have to be on the same network and subnet
Wow.
Make a new thread. Explain exactly how you want your Wireless network to be setup. Explain everything in post no. 1, do not keep adding more information at post 100+.
Sorry I though I did, but I must have forgot to mention that
I need all my DHCP address from the main DHCP server at 10.42.0.1 and also the DNS needs to go to 10.42.0.252 for my pi-hole server
But you said you don't want an Ethernet cable, correct?
One of the devices must remain connected to the network via Ethernet.
Again, you cannot bridge two radios.
would this whole project be better as one thread explaining everything
I have already spent all day getting this far, do I need realyd then for DHCP to work as I need it
the DHCP is wired to the RE450 see the topology image, or do you mean I can only use DHCP from 10.42.0.1 if I use a wired connection
What project, you just said the setup isn't what you desire, after we took all this time to get Internet working.
I think that's kinda rude - and a lot of reading of 100+ posts to discuss a new setup at post 113. You just asked for an entirely different setup. A new thread is appropriate.
Do as you please, new thread or not. It seems you're tying to make this setup difficult for yourself. I'll keep monitoring the thread and offer assistance as I can.
the setup is not what I need, it will not be useable
sorry its been 100+ post but I though that what we were doing the setup I needed, that how a normal repeater would work
I know you have helped a lot but I do not like this attitude
I am not making it difficult, this is how it has to be setup here, every thing has to be on the same subnet, I need device to device communication, which will not happen over different subnets
Clarify what you want - in its entity. Use 1 post to explain EVERYTHING.
Explain:
Correct your diagrams (e.g. if there's a wire, add it), add IPs, explain where DHCP servers are running, etc.
ok I will do hopefully we can get what I need this time
thank you for all your help
Are you asking abut this:
Because if so, you haven't mentioned it once nor have any of your configs shown it.
In any case, be sure to include any links to relevant references in your extended description/post.
that was me but with a previous failed setup
I wanted to setup without 802.11r for testing and add it later
See that's what keeps confusing me - and I warned about this:
Are these 2 requests in any way related to each other?
I hope you can understand the confusion you're raising by the 2 conflicting desires and the time frame in which you desire to accomplish them.
so can 802.11r not work on the same subnet
I am not so bothered about timeframe now
see the whole house openwrt topic, where one post should explain everything needed Whole house OpenWrt - Installing and Using OpenWrt - OpenWrt Forum
Yes, but your device is not currently configured for this (this is why I asked many posts ago and warned). Nor can you have some hybrid setup between the 2 configs to get Internet until you wanna setup 802.11r. You have to pick one config or the other.
