192.168.1 for logging into the interface on the old router. The ip the ONT sees I don;t wish to share security reasons but I know it.
Post some kind of status screen dump from you old router, where it shows the status/config of the wan and lan sides.
it's other then the wan IP set to auto so it doesn't show it anywhere, openwrt isn't auto finding that ip in auto mode though, and my ISP said to expect that. cause when bought a newer router 5 year ago also setting it to auto seemed to just set itself to an IP/mac that had to be whitelisted. Do no other IP's do that cause I would believe it. My ISP is small with maybe 1500 customers tops. how do I backtrace to find my Ipv6 IP (wifi routers end)? it's hard to explain, connecting anything to this ONT is a pain everytime I buy a new router, but it's also faster then what my ISP gives out now.
You can share it if it is a private IP:
I know cause the internet should only see the ONT. But say the ONT gets hacked? but either way I can't share it with out a backtrace for reasons I explained and not being able to login to the ONT, because I can't see it otherwise myself even right now that's my problem I got the ipv4, maybe my isp has ipv6 disabled? The router only shows a ipv4 address under wan IP.
I got an nslookup and tracerouter. what do I blur out in it?
You don't have any public IPs on your router, just post the screen shot. Mask out the MAC, if you'd like.
Not what you were asked to post ...
The end user manuals at https://mynextlight.com/current-customers/self-install-guides/ are really shitty.
yeah I know I already read that and it's pretty bad, like i've never seen worse ever. I posted what I could, I can't see anything else. But yeah if I had Comcast I don't think I'd be having these issues, pay 3 times more for slower though.
I just tested it out with the mac address and Ipv4 address set to what my old router had and I couldn't connect to the internet. I still can't find anything of my ipv6. Any thoughts? I'm going to set up my old e4200 with a 1.5 amp psu (should be 2) hoping it will work that way well enough to see if I'm doing something wrong or this router is dead or something. Like I've followed every video and guide I can find but I'm at a loss.
Is there a good way to know if there's some hardware failure causing this? Can someone post a known good configuration file for this router that I can start with to sanity check my router? and let me know what version so I can downgrade to the same one if needed. I'm running some test and I'll report back with details once done.
You haven't posted enough info to provide you with any kind of usable config.
Ok what should I post for a config?
Scroll back and post the info requested, to start with.
Mac address to spoof
My testing showed I was wrong about IP address mattering should just be auto, the mac just needs spoofing, however my ISP told me the IP mattered when I called on the phone so forgive my confusion they gave me the wrong info. I bricked my e4200 so I'm going to try to unbrick it, I blame not having the correct 2 watt adapter I only have a 1.5 watt, either that or not updating the firmware on it before running with the openwrt firmware.
Ea4200 uses just above 6w (you wrote watt but you meant amps so that psu isnβt the problem. Even if it was too small it wouldnt brick it.
Yeah it worked until I rebooted it. First time I ran the install firmware and it said it worked successfully then rebooted back into the stock firmware, then I tried the upgrade firmware and it wouldn't reboot just hangs with the light on the top blinking, reset doesn't work. it's 2 amps at 12 volts. Right now I'm going to reset the r78000 try other more time now that I know how to get another router to work, if it fails I'll try with downgrade firmware and tftp debrick the e4200 and report back, but at this point it should work with just mac spoofing, so if I just default everything and set up the mac address and wireless it should work right? (I know for speed and security I should enable more the just that). Also is NSS core build more stable then main? I'll give that a try if it might help.
So long story short I got my old Ciso e4200 to connect to the internet. But in doing so the ASUS I'm replacing now seems to be blacklisted from the ONT, tried restarting the ASUS and ONT to no avale. but now that I have a configuration on the e4200 that works How do I transfer the config from the e4200 to the r7800 if I can do that, it should solve all my issues right now. Also is it A known thing that managed frame protection fails if enabled, because it's not on the e4200v2 page I can report it as a bug if not?
Do I just restore my back up on the r7800 or dose that not work cross model?
