I've been running WPA3 for probably going on a year now, and it's been fine with all but two devices (a printer and one android device with an old OS). I would be surprised if that's part of the issue, honestly.
Same here, WPA3 @ 5GHz AX, 80MHz, Channel 36 with several devices connected and my current uptime is 1d20h with 23.05.3.
Which Snapshot version? Today I installed OpenWrt SNAPSHOT r25861-d997477775 and it is running kernel 6.1.82.
Enable the testing kernel and build your own image.
If you don't want to build one yourself, pesa1234's custom build contains kernel 6.6.25:
I think (hope?) finally got it.
Apple Bonjour. Multicasts.
Apple devices live off that. Dawn uses it too. It would seem they are not fully cooperating and that is causing havoc with this router. Configured dawn to broadcast instead of multicast (which doesn't quite work as well, but maybe usteer is the solution) and everything seems (fingers crossed) better...
Don't think it's a dawn issue but more with multicasts and this device or the kernel, as when we were using an ipq806x device as the main router it would do really weird stuff after heavy streaming with Apple products.
Back to WPA3, back to stable, temporarily took out the Apple Airports we have, and now using usteer... let's see what happens.
Can any one help me to install OpenWrt Uboot on GL-MT6000?
why would you do that ? You know that you’ll lose the recovery web interface once you do that ? With GL iNet uboot is easy to recover the router via their web if.
In that case;
First flash the preloader.bin and second the factory.bin, wait till the router boots up, login to 192.168.1.1 and thirdly flash the sysupgrade.bin file. That’s it
Hi,
I also was curious about the process of replacing the stock bootloader.
The question has come up on the forum as well.
The TOH page is warning of flashing the factory image, without having flashed the preloader image first.
User wanting to replace OEM u-boot with OpenWrt u-boot will need to first flash the preloader image, then the u-boot image. Attemping to flash the factory image first will likely lead to bricking!
How does it add up? Is the wiki page wrong?
I understand that it’s complex and risky. I do not recommend it.
true that ! Preloader image first !
No, it is not wrong, it is warning you NOT to use the factory image.
I have no interest in replacing the OEM u-boot, so I used the sysupgrade image.
What new capabilities would be gained by going to other bootloader?
How is OpenWrt restricted by using the GL-inet GUI bootloader?
I suspect this is related to Chinese versions with limitations
I assume you mean openwrt bootloader, would say nothing special, besides headache for some, in case of debricking the unit.
There is no restriction to openwrt when using OEM bootloader. I think that most, if not all, owners of mt6000 are using oem bootloader just because of the easiness of restoring the unit if needed.
Excuse pls that's correct...I was talking about the OpenWrt bootloader and I think di_Niko explained the reasoning for it. Chinese versions may have some restrictions coded into the OEM bootware. There have been some good price deals on Chinese versions if they can be reconfigured to vanilla OpenWrt. Just guessing ..
What are those restrictions? Is there anything more than OEM firmware VPN functionality?
A new firmware release was made available.
So far it seems stable.
