I am having an issue with the "Enable DNS lookups" on real-time graphs in the Luci interface.
I recently did a fresh install to the latest stable version on my WRT1900ACv2. The packages that I installed are: dnscryptv2, adblock. I am certain that this issue involves the settings on one or both of them and have verified that this feature worked on the fresh default installation of OpenWRT 19.
All settings were configured manually and mirrored what I had on the previous version OpenWRT 18.x and this feature of resolving names (albeit by default and not an option) worked fine.
At a minimum I assumed that someone would want to see the dhcp configuration and can reply with whatever is needed. Any help is appreciated.
@diesel561 I had the exact same setup (adblock, dnscrypt v2) and faced the same isssue with "Enable DNS lookups" in Luci real-time graphs. I quickly reviewed Luci code just now and figured out that "Enable DNS lookups" depends on the dns server listed in /etc/resolv.conf file.
So, to get DNS lookups working in Luci real-time graphs again, I went to Luci->Network->Interfaces->WAN->Edit->Advanced Settings page and added "127.0.0.1" (local dns server) under "Use Custom DNS servers".
Hopefully, this config fix will resolve your issue.
Hello,
I also have this issue with unable to display dns lookups in realtime graphs (19.07)
I tried to add 127.0.0.1 for wan. But still unable to resolve ips in the graphs.
Have you managed to find another workaround or solution?
It appears you have excluded loopback interface in your "DHCP and DNS" configuration. Hence, "adding 127.0.0.1" didn't work for you.
First, check what interfaces has DNS server listening on and then, add the corresponding ip addresses of those interfaces in your WAN's customer dns servers.
Enabled. In the log mostly A queries from other clients, but not a single PTR query from the router itself.

That probably explains why I do not see the names in the status. The button "Enable DNS lookups" in luci actually does nothing.
Hey that was the reason
Thank you very much for pointing me to that.
I had option ipv6 '0' under loopback interface in /etc/config/network. Removed it and now it is working.
