ZTE MF286D TIM Locked (Telecom Italia S.p.A.) Installation

Hello, i was trying to install OpenWRT but, after set 115200 and the COM port i get any results from Putty terminal, just once, i started Tftpd64 (client) to send at 192.168.0.1 the intramfs image, and something appeared but only crypted like data. So i closed the stuck page but i get always no terminal to interact. While sending it trough tftpd64 client it get stuck on Block#0.

Any idea?

No matter how are my ip setted, also because, this and the R version are always giving me 192.168.0.100 addresses.

Thank you.

firewall on the tftpd host is the most common reason for failing flashes.

They where all disabled i think could be the usb ttl at this point

What 3.3v adapter are you using to interface with the mf286d?

silicon labs cp2102

should not be an issue with that then, you may need to disable antivirus, firewall and start windows in safe mode for tftp and serial to work.

Alternatively boot Ubuntu live from usb stick and work from that.

Tried all, Windows on safe mode doesn't even recognizes LAN, in normal mode i tried to disable antivirus too but still no luck, i think i should completely uninstall it, because of the HIPS protectoin maybe was trolling me.

With Ubuntu i managed to install Putty, but the software wasn't able to send commands trough the USB port even if was correctly listed, even to comunicate with, maybe because the OS wasn't installed, anyway like Arch, that is installed, i found no other softwares capable to use the USB TTL and setenv command isn't recognized from both distros. Or those are just U-Boot commands?

Maybe uninstall the antivirus should be easier, even if i could set an tftp server on terminal i still don't know if i will found Putty on the same way i found it for Ubuntu and no one of the listed programs i did found in Aur.

Okay, don't mind me for the moment, i didn't noticed one connector was desoldered maybe i will try with DAS for real or just wait someone soldering this for me again.

Thank you anyway.

There's a way to install using ZTE framework, who is the stock firmware mobile network?

TIM italian carrier, i tried with no luck. And this was for the R version not the D, i want install it on the D version.

I need try to get around in some ways of the CG-NAT carrier rules, because some games doesn't even log in.

And most of all choose one cell to be binded, if would be possible, to eliminate some clear misuses of my LTE signal.

A whole guide is here:

When using, you will need to disconnect from the internet, if you succeed in moving from TIM to Nordic, I have a framework that can install Openwrt from Nordic B11.

I've converted three mf286ds so far, one is running Openwrt, the others were unbranded from 3 UK.

But you used this for the same reason as mine? I tried resoldering the cable but still nothing, the only thing i am not sure i did disabled was the windows firewall.

I saw the one you send me but was not clear for me i was getting openwrt full anyway i read about someone used this just to apply a full image, anyway i should still interact with putty and the serial port.

Yes exactly the same reason to get away from the carrier firmware.

Omg, maybe i didn't get everything, so i should use first "Tim to Nordic ZTE..", because my carrier firmware have some changes that need to be exploited by that software, then, according to the guide i will be able to use the serial with Putty, to get password and change momentary IMEI to get updates, but those would be unecessary to have OpenWRT, so then i will read something in this folder called "three to OpenWRT"?

TIM to Nordic will get you to Unbranded.
Nordic B02 to Nordic B11 will get you to a password of admin on unbranded.
Three to Openwrt, the UPDATE folder contains root_uImage and sha256sums, these are the Openwrt files.
If you copied those two files to the Nordic update then it would install Openwrt and the B02 Modem.

So i should use this:
zte mf286d Tim to Nordic_B11 192.168.32.1 pw admin.rar
(Because is newer)

Instead of this:
Tim to Nordic zte mf286d 192.168.32.1 pw ---.rar

Or even this
Tim to Elisa zte mf286d 192.168.100.1 pw del wifi.rar

Yes 1st one should do it all

The modem is not recognized from software, other than this i noticed now the wifi led is no more blinking and i am not more able to access the modem even if is recognized from Ethernet as 192.168.0.1..

 maybe bricked?

Oh no, my friend, if i just saw that ips site in uk maybe everything was easier for me, that is just a framework that install original firmware... This haven't enything to do with those ELISA softwares mantioned on the italian forum, from tons of messages i get not the point.

Anyway was just one of my firewalls acting on command that was still i think enabled.

After a reboot i got it updated, but at the end on the ZTE software i got this: "Error: IDE identify command not supported."

At this point i could just put the OpenWRT update image?

Thank you.

Yes you should now be able to put the Openwrt update image.
It's very hard to brick this router.

I am just using this B11 and is going very good after a reboot as it sees the SIM card, anyway, i did not found anything other than FOTA update, i should use this original software again and put the images in it and then update?

Another question, now i see that i could also put this as bridged modem, and since that i'm been using another OpenWRT router, i could just use this in Bridge Mode? Any differences? Could not work use two OpenWrt devices?
