You could just put it in bridge mode, turn it basically into a modem, and use your other Openwrt router.
Nobody has yet given a good example of how to use the MF286d flashed with Openwrt as a modem, so if you need bridge mode stay on the B11 Nordic which is the Unbranded Firmware.
I would prefeer to install OpenWRT and use it as a Bridged Modem, so i can also test it, but if i just could do this, if i can't use two Openwrt Device's, one as bridged modem, i don't know, i've tried with two routers, and is not work really.
Also i did read that with OpenWRT i can also set one cell and bind the modem only to this cell, if that could work, i would also take my router out for now, because i saw another modem from another brand where i can bind CellID and coordinates, so when i have budget i will just take this one, if actually i can't do this with an OpenWRT modem.
hi nice post, i have the same device, tim firmware, and i need the bridged mode, after you upgrade the firmware is it stable, and have all the bands that we need for italian provaiders?
Yes actually it sees all even without set an APN but i have set it before, put the 4G only on and then, you can choose the BAND that you prefeer, i am just testing it and leaved it in automatic mode with my cellphone SIM (Vodafone) and is going very good. In an semi-underground garage not even near from a window.
Really i can't realize how TIM did so much absurdity in it transforming a great device in a really basic, at least working device really.
Se sei italiano, non so come TIM possa realizzare certe assurdita' facendo diventare un modem potentissimo, praticamente una ciofeca praticamente funziona e basta.
Obviously with OpenWRT will you have more but, i need first to understand if it will be suitable for my needs. But i think i will try it anyway.
yes i'm italian,my device works with all provaiders, the only one i haven't tried is tim. but i need the bridge to avoid dual nat. so what firmware did you install for you to have the bridge option?
avere l'opzione di poter selezionare le bande è importantissimo per me, con postemobile.
The last post on the thread shared by @hecatae tells how to do this, i just have put Nordic on it so i can't tell you about this for now, but, i think this will be the solution anyway, because all LTE connections, are ruled by Carrier Grade - NAT.
A couple of post before i also mentioned a guy that is happy running a great web hosting on a VPS, "BTW, I was planning to do the same.. until I realised I could just get a Ionos £1 VPS, install wireguard on it and then route whatever traffic I want over the VPN to my home. In fact I'm doing some serious web hosting at home now, over 5G with this setup. " all depends on your needs, anyway i will see and then after tried with OpenWRT on bridged i can say something more, i guess...
What's the point have it on Bridged, if router doesn't have APN configs?
Also going to Nordic B11 give the ZTE software unable to apply further changes because is a updated version, so i can't apply same method for install OpenVPN, i should better read all messages on that forum you shared, i tried to access via terminal to backup before need further changes but still nothing from Putty, also with this firmware, i start to think i have something was previously disabled on Windows OS and doesn't let me to communicate but i don't know.
I have to work so i can't give to it much time ATM.
With Postemobile, is wrong to select bands manually, because the SIP will give you randlomy connected to Vodafone, or WindTre bands, that are working on different spectrums.
Fastweb is using the WindTre infrastructures so, i don't know what could happen if you completely disable support for one of your SIP's. Again, if your real problem is CG-NAT the VPS for 12$ year, should be the best solution, i guess.
