Wireless dhcp access giving out wrong ip address range

HI,
I'm struggling to fix a problem that has just appeared. We had a power cut and when my HomeHub 5a (running LEDE 17.01.4) restarted I had trouble accessing the network from other devices. It looks as though the wireless dhcp requests are getting the wrong ip address range. It looks like there might already be a DHCP server running (for some reason) and so the second one can't get the address range it wants and starts allocating them in the wrong range?
Here is the log at startup

Post your config files for network, dhcp, and wireless.

What IP address range are you expecting on the wireless network? What are you getting instead?

Hi,
I'm expecting 192.168.1.x and am getting 192.168.0.x. So I have my phone which should according to the static lease get 192.168.1.93 but instead is getting 192.168.0.100 and the wrong gateway, 192.168.0.254 (should be 192.168.1.4)

Based on your config, I don't see any reason that you'd be getting 192.168.0.0/24 addresses.

Do you have any other routers connected to any of the LAN ports? And what is your upstream (WAN) port connected to?

Also, FWIW, I don't see a DHCP server for your guest network.

No, no other routers in the network. I have a raspberry Pi connected wired which I turned off and rebooted the router to make sure it wasn't somehow being involved. I guess I could try with no ethernet connection to the router at all to rule that out.
If I connect to the guest network I get an IP address of 192.168.2.188 and a gateway of 192.168.2.1, which gets me to the internet, oddly. However the normal Openwrt_no5, with IP of 192.168.0.100 and gateway of 192.168.0.254 does not.
WAN is my connection to the internet (PPPoATM).

Post your complete dhcp since it looks like you edited/truncated it.

I did, here you got then

I see the guest dhcp is hiding in there amongst all the static ips. Sorry didn't mean to remove that.

What happens on the wired network? Does the dhcp response provide valid network values?

The log pretty clearly shows that dnsmasq identifies another DHCP server in the lan network, and refuses to start, as you have not specified it to forcefully start itself. It even gives you hint, what is the correct option to force that:

Sat Dec 2 07:49:11 2017 user.notice dnsmasq: found already running DHCP-server on interface 'br-lan' refusing to start, use 'option force 1' to override
...
Sat Dec 2 07:49:46 2017 daemon.warn dnsmasq-dhcp[2104]: no address range available for DHCP request via br-lan

The guest network 192.168.2.x has no competing DHCP server, so that part starts ok.

Sat Dec 2 07:50:06 2017 daemon.info dnsmasq-dhcp[2909]: DHCP, IP range 192.168.2.60 -- 192.168.2.209, lease time 1h

You should maybe first use that force option for LAN to force dnsmasq to start.
Then you might hunt down the rogue DHCP server in your LAN.

Yeah, starting to think it's all but the guest (wireless). Another wired box downstairs refused to connect as well. Will disconnect the router from the wired network and boot again.

Do you have a good known backup of your config you can restore?

Yeah, I back up regularly, will check what that looks like. Need to go out now, will be back later..
Thanks for the help so far.

Anthony

Booted with no wired ethernet connection to the router, then plugged it in after it booted.
Got a ip address, and don't get already running message. I think it might be something else on the network as was suggested.

Worked it out. It was another travel router I had in the garden which I had set up to allow wireless devices to connect. I had forgotten that it would allocate a wired ip address as well. I suspect the lede router is so reliable it hasn't been turned off for the month or so I have had this other router enabled.

For anyone else in the same boat, using
https://www.softperfect.com/products/networkscanner/
allows you to find the ip addresses of the dhcp servers. Then I temporarily switched ip addresses to see this other device (it was on a different subnet), then get the MAC address, look it up using
https:://macvendors.com
to get the vendor.

Thanks all. Solved.

Glad you found a solution. Assuming you're really just using the travel router as a way of physically extending your network range, the better way to set up the travel router is to use it to extend your network as a dumb ap or a wifi repeater. This way, it doesn't need a DHCP server at all and won't conflict in the future.

Yes,
In my defence, I think the travel router turned on the DHCP server automatically. I checked the webpage for the travel router (tp-link) and it is set up by default to enable a DHCP router if required. So I imagine this morning (after the power cut) it booted quicker than the main router and took it upon itself to set up a DHCP server. Previously it has not done it because whenever it is switched on the main router assigns it an ip address. Too clever for its own good!
