WiFi 7 devices support

It’s been a year and a half since the release of WiFi 7, but it seems there’s no consumer grade 2.4G and 5G WiFi 7 devices that support openwrt on the market. What’s hold up behind this? Is it hacking firmware much harder than before?

x86 pc is pretty much consumer grade.

WiFi 7 device drivers need to be in mainline kernel which can take time, but I saw that the Asus one is now in snapshot.

what @fakemanhk said, plus someone have to buy the $150 and up wifi7 device, and potentially brick it while trying to get openwrt running.

if you want to sponsor the devs with wifi7 hw, I'm sure they'll accept the donations.

Worth to mention that BE14 (BPI r4 wireless module) sucks - you will be just disappointed
