Wavlink Quantum DAX - WAN port not working

I installed Openwrt on a Wavlink Quantum DAX (same as Phicomm K3) following some posts found in this forum (due to the lack of documentation in the device page) and everything seems to be working ok except for the WAN port that doesn't work at all...

Information about the WAN port is logged in dmesg and syslog, but there's no connection to the said port and when I connect a cable nothing is logged in system logs and the connection lights in the switch won't even turn on (don't know if this is a problem in the physical port as I installed Openwrt directly without testing the original firmware). The network config is the default one, using DHCP and you can find below the server logs.

To bypass this problem I reconfigured a LAN port to act as WAN and it seems to be working as expected, but it means that I'll have one less port available.

Also, I leave here the steps I made to install Openwrt in this router, as it can be useful to someone who's planning to do the same (I want to congrat people on this forum for the incredible help provided)

@tjfigueiredo thanks for the write up, does the WAN issue happen on all Openwrt releases or only 22.03.3?

I have two Quantum DAX here, but neither are using 22.03.3, my WAN ports on both work.

It's my goal to do so, but I was trying to fix all the problems and make a more "final" version of the docs before doing it.

Tried also with 21.02.5, 19.07.10 and SNAPSHOT. I'm starting to assume that it should be a problem in the physical port... :frowning_face:

Want to thank you for the comments in other posts that helped me a lot figuring out how to do this installation!

There's 5 versions of the K3,
The Quantum Dax is believed to be the Phicomm K3 D1, but if Wavlink are just reflashing any boards they get and putting them in DAX shells, this could be a different model number.

If @tjfigueiredo is willing to install stock firmware then we could check if the WAN port works.

Hmm, interesting... Didn't know about the 5 versions.

I don't know if I'll have time to do so in a near future, but it'll be in my TODO list and I'll get back here with updates when done

Posso testar a porta wan antes e depois de instalar o openwrt se quiseres. Mas também acredito que seja um problema físico da porta do teu router. Diz-me uma coisa. É preciso soltar alguma coisa na pcb para ligar lá o adaptador USB ttl?

Is necessary soldering some pins on pcb to connect the dupont connectors of the ttl adapter?

You don't need to, mine were held down with a clothes peg.

My wan port works with stock firmware and Now with openwrt. Your router maybe have some problem in the hardware. Now its time to test openwrt and Probably make some changes

(Answering in english for other people context)

You don't need to solder it, I just got mine connected using something "kind of" heavy on the cables, just to assure it's connected. You just need to make sure it's firmly connected, otherwise you'll only have some scrambled characters on your screen (or nothing at all).

I have found an usb pin header connector and break to take the "pins" and inserted in the female dupond connectors of the ttl adapter and in the holes of the pcb and flashed successfully.
