SQUASHFS error: xz decompression failed, data probably corrupt

I got a lot of this error repeating in the kernel log after a reboot. The forum posts suggest the flash went bad or something else...

My best bet is to reflash the firmware right? Can I discover more about the issue before I do?

[ 15.136204] SQUASHFS error: xz decompression failed, data probably corrupt
[ 15.149927] SQUASHFS error: squashfs_read_data failed to read block 0xb15ae
[ 15.163799] SQUASHFS error: Unable to read fragment cache entry [b15ae]
[ 15.176991] SQUASHFS error: Unable to read page, block b15ae, size 114ac
[ 15.190387] SQUASHFS error: Unable to read fragment cache entry [b15ae]
[ 15.203566] SQUASHFS error: Unable to read page, block b15ae, size 114ac

What I did:

  1. Updated some packages
  2. Removed some entries in config files that I added manually and am no longer using (/etc/config/)
  3. Tried "Set Static" and "Hostname" but reverted and didn't save anything
  4. Reboot
When reboot finished the LuCI interface is not right, the hostname is "(none)" and Active connections in Overview just says "?", and the log repeats the above error many times

Device:
Ubiquiti EdgeRouter-X

Which hardware is this? (ie. which device? NAND or NOR flash? or block device?)

Ubiquiti EdgeRouter-X, the website says it's NAND flash.

Clean flashed 21.02.1, seems alright for now. Though initially it randomly froze (says request aborted by browser when updating list, freezes in ssh when typing command), no error in kernel log.
