[Solved] Cannot boot qhora322 due to uci: not found

Hi. I have been trying to install OpenWRT on a Qhora-322 router and was successful for the most part, but got into a weird state with opkg because I moved from the vendor FW to openwrt using a snapshot image. I was trying to explore how to fix this and got into a bad state where the router won't fully boot. It gets stuck at the following step:
/etc/preinit: line 18: uci: not found

I am at a loss of what could be the issue, I would appreciate some pointers. These are the boot logs. I am able to get into initramfs and also the failsafe mode. The guide I was following is this one

Aaaand... I was not patient enough. After about 5 minutes it finished doing what it needed to do and booted.

as for the missing webUI, simply run

opkg update
opkg install luci

in ssh
