I admit I did not extensively search, I found some references but I would like to be addressed with some hint to some guide to manage sms.
I'm not interested on using voice call trhough the modem but just able to visualize eventual SMS I could receive from Telco Provider and eventual missed call (but this is a nice to have).

are you saying the sms related packages in the repo aren't good enough ?
Not at all, I searched and I got "different" solutions as there should be an external package. Then I understood there are internal packages that could fit and I'll have a look to them. Have you some hint that could be useful?

Would you confirm (or not ...) that asterisk-app-sms would be enough to receive, read and eventually send sms?
Now I'm back at the beginning of the thread: if there are suitable packages in the openwrt repository, I would go with them.
But I'm still confused ...
If you're happy with working in command line, install sms-tool package.
That's perfect, I need just to read received SMS.
Installed and got what I needed 
As appetite comes eating, is there anything similar for eventual missed calls?
