A conditional yes, it really depends on the the details, but fr VLANs it mostly is about 4 bytes that need to get added.

Fair enough, as I said 22 is really to cover all eventualities and because (slightly) too large has a very minuscule throughput cost only.

I would not call that a choice, but a recommendation (and I was initially opposed to it on the basis of being imprecise, but given that precision is hard to come by it seems to work okay).

I tried to explain the rationale in the wiki explicitly but apparently not well enough.

Sure the kernel adds 14 bytes, because these 14 bytes (source mac address, destination mc address, ether type) are actually IIRC part of the data in the SKB, while stuff like the framecheck sequence and inter-frame gap will be added later (either by the driver or by the NIC). And hence these 14 bytes are relevant for the kernel but for traffic shaping purposes these generally are not enough.

This is good and sad (because I wrote a good deal of the overhead related information floating around)

That is a bit long in the tooth, and mostly to be read as historic documentation back in the day CeroWrt 3.10 was hot (like a decade ago)

These are the 18 bytes that fall out as mandatory when reading the relevant docsis standards documents.

This one does not carry my finger prints, but it seems to recommend the values on SQM wiki page which indeed did contain an unexplained 22 (which I tried to fix).

This is a nice find. Running the latest build [5.0.11-13_r18531]

Dyndns finally auto starts after a reboot!

Also the argon skin is back to working properly too - you can open and close the various menus once again, and all the fonts looks good

Hi there,

i running latest build 5.0.11-13
since i updated i cant reach my pihole dns fron other subnets.

e.g.
network is on 192.168.55.x
dns on 192.168.0.10

i had traffic rules to accept the traffic for port 53

if i connect with my laptop and change the local dns to 8.8.8.8 it works well.
ping to other hosts in the 55 subnet works. just if i try to ping 192.168.0.10

192.168.55.1 is answering: port not reachable.

well... this is the first build with ujail/seccomp so i'm assuming it's related to that if the same settings worked before...

if you are familiar with ssh the it would be good to see;

cat /etc/config/dhcp

you can then un-install procd-ujail procd-seccomp and reboot

if this fails... the original 21.02.1 image is here if you wished to downgrade to that to confirm it is an OS version issue rather than config(dns/dhcp/firewall) issue...

but I think you just have a general config issue...

came across this post of yours with some unusual firewall settings... so that makes me wonder if it's just a 'normal' config issue...

Im gonna reinstall the 21.02 FACTORY EXT4 on my sd.card and redo all the settings one by one.

since i changed nothing except the snapshot update i dont think there is a config thing. maybe there are some new default configs?

no worries... nobody else has reported any core issues with the OS related to these things...

and I also see

note: the arbitrary space before the 6 so, I'd bet 97% it is a config issue... I assume you can ping and resolve via 192.168.0.10 server entry?

anyways... more people on the forum will help if you do start fresh with a default factory so that may be a good way to go about getting clear, clean assistance on vlan and zones and stuff... it is hard to setup / troubleshoot...

Updated to r18531. Get an error message trying to build something that there’s “an error with ‘make’”. Removed and reinstalled to no avail. Doesn’t matter, but wondering if anyone else has issues.

but for compiling most stuff natively on the router you have to use a chroot/lxc/docker/full-distro

debian chroots were my 'goto' choice... but there are probably better lxc/docker options now...

just grep -C6 around it... i.e.;

this one is semi-normal... ( can be ignored ) ... at least I think it is... i'd need to boot the stock(official) image to confirm... but I get this message too... and wifi still works... afaik it falls back to brcmfmac43455-sdio.bin or something...

sometimes, these appear when something is new and it cant read them on first load...

if it keeps re-appearing on (service) restart... then sometimes you need to get rid of your history when plugins change and whatnot...

Thanks. That solved the first message.

Now the last one (I hope). If I reboot using command line I get this error message cat: can't open '/sys/class/net/br-lan/address': No such file or directory but the pi reboots.
