Is your main access point OpenWRT with WDS enabled? Things others call WDS may or may not be compatible.
not by the CPU though, RAM and Disk speed probably
Not very truthful, completely wrong
Mostly stubborn, maybe
beyond helping, definitely not
I only watch the one you linked, I am sorry
I do not like this attitude
I still see a possibility in this
You have to take one step at the time approach. It is not like you throw magic pill at it and magically it doubles speed.
That will be the issue there then
RE450 with stock firmware because its 4MB flash not suupported by openwrt
so WDS is not going to work as far as I know
CPU in extender is very weak, you might want to check if it clamps at 100% cpu and you can do very little to help, like disable qdiscs, maybe bridger helps, maybe wds better than relayd etc.
what about bridger
Tp-link use firmware based on openwrt so could I serial connect to it and change the config file to add WDS
No way that wds would work.
Best you can do is NAT and 80MHz
Current setup is clamped at 200mbps due to 40mhz channel cho(ce.
never said that
I said I am already using 80MHz
already went over this before, If I buy another one its going to be Multy M1 for what was recommended here
but while my RE450 is working and providing 90% coverage, all I need the RE305 for is extra coverage at the outside front of the house
may seem unnecessary but I want it
You deleted the post whhere you asked if you could use a TP-Link and flash it using the most difficult method possible.
Well now, finally progress. You are going to buy new equipment; as has already been suggested over and over.
At this point, I've wasted so much time I could have bought it myself and given it to you based on hourly wages alone.
Sad it does not work (no irony, it is unfixable)
They dont have wall mount, not even screw hang holes, but good thinking, that one will smash small guys in both coverage and speed.
more here
I wanted wall pluggable, but things have changed now, anything small will be good
how my power extension cord are at the minute wall pluggable makes it harder, as wall pluggable needs to be upright
but for the time being I would like to get something working with the hardware I have
Pedantically, you have something working; you just do not like the results and wont bother to actually do the homework of trying to learn about settings that might get you what you want.
So, in the mean time, why don't you do some actual work trying to tweak settings. because your 2g width is set to 20.
Is the device smart enough to use one radio as the backhaul and the other as the AP eleminating sharing one band and halving the data rate??
You don't know, do you?
I know, but you, obviously don't. I'd take a chance and tell you how to do it but you have exhausted my will to spoon feed you anymore.
@LilRedDog, @brada4 (and anyone else), I appreciate you're trying to help but these matters (and many others) have been done to death and back in the OP's other threads. They have been told repeatedly that the issues are their devices and local environment, and that they are not going to achieve what they're looking for.
Everything that could have been considered/suggested has already been done so, there is nothing the OP can do with their current equipment/environment to change the situation they're in.
Engaging the OP in their continued attempts to achieve the impossible is not assisting anyone. Please just let the thread die.
The alternative with current gear is to revert to OEM FW and set up mesh with their resources. There is nothing nice and interoperable for the machinery in your home half installed with OpenWRT.
not true at all, I have had this as a background project since December, going to to it when and if I find new information
2.4GHz is only used for smart home so does not need high speed
one 2.4GHz and one 5GHz radio, so I don't think that is possible
I don't know for sure, but I think that is probably the case
2.4GHz is not worth it here, there are too many access points and not enough channels
wait so is it possible?
why didn't you tell me in February?
from what @LilRedDog said maybe I can
to be honest I can't remember trying anything
If you let this thread die, you are going to make me annoyed, because I don't get good answers until today
all I get told id the hardware is not capable, the CPU is going to be 100%
when from the data I have seen, the CPU is only being half used
and the RAM is around the same being half used
maybe just over half
