Openwrt Router WAN mode not connecting to Virgin Media Superhub 3.0 modem mode

Tp-Link Archer C7 v4 on Openwrt 24.10.2, reset to default settings

I have a Virgin Media Superhub 3.0 in modem mode

I have connected a LAN cable from port 1 on the Superhub to the Tp-Link’s WAN/internet port (blue)

When looking at Network > Interfaces, the WAN port doesn’t show any sign of an internet connection (the WAN port box is red).

The internet connection definitely works in modem mode as I’ve tested it with PC directly connected to Port 1 with a LAN cable

Is there a special setup required for Virgin Media Superhub 3.0 devices? I have ordered a new device from Virgin Media just in case the router has some weirdness in the firmware. I read about how some people tried changing the Network > Switches settings to have a VLAN specially set up for the Superhub 3.0 but this didn’t help me get an internet connection.

The WAN mode is set to DHCP.

If you connect your PC directly to the modem do you have internet access and if so what is the IP address (ipconfig /all) only show the first two octets so only show XXX.YYY

The IP address when connected to the Superhub in modem mode is 82.37.xxx.xxx

And yes I do have internet access, I’m using the modem mode to send this message

Reset your router to defaults and connect wan port to modem, normally it should work out of the box

I already did for both devices. I’ll try connecting the router again now though.

After connecting your pc you have to reset the modem also as it learns the mac address.
So reset modem wait a couple of minutes and then connect your router after a reset.

Internet does seem to be working now. I guess I didn’t do the reset on either device properly but it is okay now.

For some reason the WAN section is still redded out. But it does have an IP address which it didn’t have before.

Red means the wan firewall zone that is ok.
