my usb port was not working as i did not follow the installation guide here
Now my understanding is openwrt must be installed & boot from slot 0 in the flash
& bootflag should be "Boot Flag : Sercomm0" in bootlog
everything works fine now
You're right, OpenWrt must be installed on Slot 0 & boot from Slot 0. It means that we need to flash OpenWrt factory.img from the Slot 1 of stock firmware. Otherwise, we can even get a brick (bootloop) and only sercomm-recovery utility can help us. If you have bricked routers and mtd backup of the any Etisalat S3 router then I can try to make the recovery image for sercomm-recovery.
All this long installation guide is needed only in order to switch the stock firmware to Slot 1 (Boot Flag : Sercomm1).
