OpenWrt 24.10.1 - Service Release

On my x86_64 gateway router, interface names eth0 eth1 eth2 become eth1 eth2 eth0 with upgrade 24.10.0 to 24.10.1 .. perhaps because of driver support change. I have never experienced such change before (on this OpenWRT box).

Does OpenWRT allow 'Predictable Network Interface Names'?

Perhaps not for ethN N>=0

What would be recommended solution?

  • physically change cables?
  • edit network config file?

Or perhaps can interface names be permanently assigned, e.g. by MAC address?

update

I physically changed cables to connect to correct ports and now all is OK.

Updated from 24.10.0 yesterday without incident. Nothing notable so far.

I updated my AX3600 with ASU without problems.
Hopefully it is stable like version 24.10.0

attended sysupgraded an "OpenWrt One" from 24.10 to 24.10.1,
all packages and settings seem to have survived including samba and rrd graphs and mounted nvme

I’m facing the same issue with the 'MediaTek/Filogic' device. The firmware updates stopped working after versions 24.10.0 and 24.10.1, requiring booting into initramfs-recovery mode every time to flash a new image.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem? Or is there an official plan to address it in the next release?

I did a attended sysupgrade flash and it's seemed to brick my mx5300. Running off a spare router now, is there a article handy to get this repaired? Resetting it didn't help

Which specific device?

You probably already tried this, but if it's Xiaomi AX3200 (MediaTek mt7622 / Filogic 800), you might need to follow this procedure to extend the boot partition: https://openwrt.org/toh/xiaomi/ax3200#upgrading_from_2305_and_earlier_to_upcoming_2410_or_snapshot

I also just tried tftp but it fails. I did get a ping for a few seconds to 192.168.1.1 when I do 3 quick reboots of the router so it seems like tftp would work.

Got to failsafe and recovered. Tried the sys upgrade again and same thing. I will stick with 24.10.0 for now lol

AX59U: everything works fine.

But how do we flash to Keenetic KN-3811? Would someone update the wiki sometime?

What is the brand of the router?

Sysupgrade :
Dynalink DL-WRX36 from 24.10.0 => 24.10.1 using owut.....:rocket: !

No specific brand, just a mini computer with onboard realtek eth and PCIE intel 2x eth board. Must be boot order of driver/device detection changed ....

Hi,
I am running openwrt 24.10.0 on Linksys MX4200 V1,when i try to upgrade it to 24.10.1 either via download direct of the sysupgrade firmware from openwrt selector url link OR via "Attended SysUpgrade" , the router will "hang" as in the green LED will keep flashing for very long time while the firmware is being upgraded via the above 2 methods and it seems to hang for very long time more than 10min until i hv to power off do a hard reset for router to fall back to a working firmware 24.10.0 again...does anyone encounter this same issue ??

Apologies for omitting the device name—TP-Link TL-XDR6088. Is this patch required as well?

P.S. I have also updated tplink_tl-xdr6088-bl31-uboot.fip and tplink_tl-xdr6088-preloader.bin to version 24.10.1.

hi, i m experiencing exactly the sameissue with linksys mx4200 v1..

No worries about it. I'm not familiar with that model and its Table of Hardware page doesn't seem to mention any specific instructions for upgrading (https://openwrt.org/toh/hwdata/tp-link/tp-link_xdr-6088)

It also seems to use a different MediaTek/Filogic SoC than the AX3200.

Perhaps someone else can confirm if that specific model needs anything special for upgrading

Hello,

My Xiaomi AX3000T router reboots with the old system version 24.10 after attempting an update. I have two units, and both behave the same way. It doesn’t matter whether I perform the update while keeping the settings or not.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Today I reset and reinstalled everything from scratch, and I can confirm that my D-Link DIR-878 A1 router has many bugs and crashes with any action I take.

Many of the router's crashes are random. I couldn't install the NextDNS and Ctrld packages. Often, the router freezes when I enable Softload Hardware. I reverted to version 23.x.
