OpenWrt 23.05.0-rc1 first release candidate

someone tested the mt7915e driver?

for me it seems to fail on Mochabin, I installed these packages and rebooted:

kmod-mt7915e, hostapd-openssl

but no wireless tab shows, when I check with lspci this is what I read:

root@OpenWrt:~# lspci
00:00.0 PCI bridge: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88F60x0/88F70x0/88F80x0/CN913x ARM SoC
01:00.0 Unclassified device [0002]: MEDIATEK Corp. MT7915E 802.11ax PCI Express Wireless Network Adapter

I did however read in the kernel log it asks for a mt7915 firmware image so I downloaded it but I still have to restart to check this.

for reference: this is a asiarf AW7915-NPD wireless card.

-edit-
its still unclassified, it works after I re-logged into luci so far the only change was this firmware image

Installed the rc1 on a WRT3200ACM. Installation and reinstalling additional packages without problems. But a number of internal devices were not able anymore to open TLS connections to internet servers. Also port forwarding to internal reverse proxy failed, that might be the same problem. It's only TLS on port 443 causing problems. The device is unusable with this problem.
I will try another clean installation the next days. Went back to Fritzbox 4040 with 22.03 for now.

Hmm, maybe missing mbedtls packages or wrong luci-ssl? If opkg install still works (may not if mbedtls is borked), then try reinstalling the luci-ssl package and see if 443 comes back to life.

EDIT: Did I get that wrong? Do you mean 443 on the router itself? That's what above applies to...

This is why I predicted that I will never use attended-sysupgrade, at least in its current form. It just won't do what most people want.

I don't want to upgrade all my packages. I want default packages, plus X Y Z (and their dependencies) and while I am at it, minus A, B and C (to save some storage space/RAM/boot time).

What I do is I use the firmware configurator to edit the package list. I save my list of packages to include in the config (which is different than the list of all installed packages) for next time.

I'm glad 23.05 looks like the end of the purgatory for MV88E6176 devices which were stuck on 22.03.2 as their last stable release.

not sure if this is the "problems" thread however when installing snort3 (wrt32x) the router will crash and have to hard reset. This problem is also in development releases, thank you releasing this and all your continuous support!

Hi
No, it applies to TLS connection made from some internal devices to internet servers. I did try restarts, it didn't work. Switching back to the FB 4040 with 22.03 everything worked. I know it sounds weird. Maybe some conntrack problem?

Archer C6U (MT7621 + MT7603 + MT7613)

Running for 24 hours as dumb AP with no regressions.

Memory usage increased from 40 to 55 as expected.

Looking forward to the next RC's!

That's for sure. Are you going to chase it down? Maybe tcpdump -i eth0 port 443 would provide some insight (both on the working release, so you can get a sense for what's normal, then on the broken release to see what's different; gonna be a mess though, as there's always so much junk flowing on that port).

Installed on newly purchased E8450. Running wired only with VLANs. Getting 935Mbps. Very happy. Many thanks to all.

Hi,
tried 23.05.0-rc1 on ZTE MF289F > it´working so far, expect WLAN:
I see only Qualcomm Atheros IPQ4019 802.11ac/n device, but not the 2,5Ghz device. Seems something is crashing in ath10k.

I rechecked the config and don't see problems.
Testing my site with connection tester from outside showed the call on port 80 with the redirect 301 in the reverse proxy's log. But no connection from outside on port 443 comes through.
I will do an deeper analysis on the fw4 rules.
Maybe something caused by mhttp sitting on port 443?

Thanks to the developers.
Works so far on x86 (Router) + dir-1960(mt7621, as AP), both had no issues with restoring the 22.03 config files.

Nice work, but I think this commit should land before final version, or there would be a serious wireless speed problem on mt76 AX devices: https://github.com/openwrt/mt76/pull/768

Successfully upgraded a WRT1900ACS here, running well so far.
On my debian 11, freshly upgraded to 12.0, I was missing python3-distutils dependency to be able to run image-builder.

2 Netgear R7800 upgraded. Everything good apart from 1/2 wireless speed with 23.05 compared to 22.03.5.

2 archer C7 v2 works fine.

All of these are in AP mode

A piece of advice: uninstall any packages you have installed before upgrading because you won’t be able to after. I found out with the first AP I upgraded, a Netgear EX3700. It stopped working when I did a remote downgrade. I’ll have to check on it later today.
