OpenWrt 21.02.0 first release candidate

https://forum.openwrt.org/t/edgerouter-4-snapshot-21-02-and-vlan/92816/6?u=flygarn12
The UCI works, in worse case by serial. But what are we supposed to write there?

The DSA config examples given in different treads after RC1 release isn’t anywhere near the examples I have seen the day before RC1 release. Some even save the network file and after installing the 21.02-rc1 insert the 19.07.7 network config again.

I tried to make a master Snapshot for the WRT3200ACM but LuCi didn’t work that day. Just to make the hardwired VLAN config with LuCi to se how it writes writes the system and network file. But this test is still to be continued..,

Show me your network config file under 19.07 and I will help you recreate it for DSA under 21.02.

Edit: And send the network config you tried under 21.02, please. Then I will help you fix that one.

Stop being an ungrateful arse and report bugs if they bother you, else it’ll not get fixed.
The devs are working on this day and night, and correct me if I’m wrong, they don’t ask a single dime from you nor from anyone else, you need to behave and show some respect. Jeez.

It’s a RC1, for a reason, and it’s probably not meant for people like you, who just say the whole thing they worked on for the past 1.5years is trash, rather than testing it and reporting issues properly.
If your operation can’t handle bugs, then just don’t upgrade, until it’s fully out. Period.

For the UPCOMING stable release series. Release candidates are not considered Stable.

Ironically, that old release is full of known security issues as it's end-of-life. By running such an old release you are putting the security of your entire network at risk.

Thank you, probably this kind of sample codes should be posted in the wiki, too, since I couldn't find any info and I was even suspecting that luci wouldn't allow me to config it (some commit messages still talk about rc.local).
Will try, thanks

Does that mean the CPU has to handle all data forward which used to be handled by the switch chip, or has the bridge driver offload options?

Why isn't the luci interface for DSA already in RC1?

Tried the latest snapshot and it seems pretty stable to me.

For DSA i have help request in this and no response ...

Dear all I own a RE450V3 which is a brand new router with fresh new support to openwr, however I would like to know if the OpenWrt 21.02.0-rc1 has Luci embedded? I know most users here are old school, prefer to configure everything manually, but is not my case, still too much rookie on this.

Thanks

RC1 is really just for testing.
It might be better to wait for the stable release.

Yes Luci is included but is not complete yet.

Thank you developers for your free work.

For me this is the best comment of the thread:

I would like OpenWrt to copy the Ubiquiti Unifi web interface:

Not sure what the best place would be to report RC specific feedback, but my RT-AC57U (mt7621 device) just had this following stack trace in the kernel log. I didn't experience any symptoms from this, but it's hard to tell for certain since I am not sure if I actually was using the network when this happened:

[410759.006466] Disabling lock debugging due to kernel taint

Tried flashing this on my Archer C7 v2. Half the time I seemed to be connecting slower to everything I normally go to. Websites, streaming video, even simple stuff like webms wouldn't load quickly. Went back to a clean install of 19.07.7 by flashing sysupgrade and doing a reset just to be sure and everything is back to normal.

Never trying a release candidate again.

SG108Tv3 is working as DHCP client, but pppoe option is diabled. I hand edited the /etc/config/network file for pppoe but I got the same results.

I do not think the DSA LuCI interface is quite ready for prime time. For me it chokes on:

/etc/config/network
###################################
config device
	option type 'bridge'
	option name 'switch0'

config bridge-vlan
	option device 'switch0'
	option vlan '10'
	option ports 'lan2:t lan3 lan4:*'
	option alias 'lan'

config bridge-vlan
	option device 'switch0'
	option vlan '666'
	option ports 'lan1'
	option alias 'iot'

config interface 'lan'
	option ifname 'switch0.lan'
	option proto 'static'
	option ipaddr '192.168.10.1'
	option netmask '255.255.255.0'
	option igmp_snooping '1'
	option ip6assign '60'

config interface 'iot'
	option ifname 'switch0.iot
	option proto 'static'
	option ipaddr '10.10.10.1'
	option netmask '255.255.255.0'
	option igmp_snooping '1'
	option ip6assign '60'

which I think should be a legitimate netifd setup for DSA

root@mamba:/etc/config# bridge vlan
port vlan-id
lan4 10 PVID Egress Untagged
lan3 10 PVID Egress Untagged
lan2 10
lan1 666 PVID Egress Untagged
switch0 10
                  666

Edit: skip that, user error, I left out a closing quote in my copy / paste of the iot stanza.

You now that 19.07 also had two release candidates before first stable release.

And even then we had a lot of members that said “I will never…!!!!”.

Of course 19.07.7 is stable. At least after 19.07.6 which was a little disaster after the bad dnsmasq update. But the 19.07.5, that was stable! At least until it turned out that dnsmasq had a bug.

I'm just warning other Archer C7 v2 users in case they are curious about flashing the RC. I will eventually flash the stable version or maybe a point upgrade after that.

I have created a bug report as this impacts a number of devices. See Bug ID 3782
