No, it requires a completely new Openwrt image.
Would you by any chance know where in the docs I could find the instructions to build a new image with a different partition layout? I'm new to OpenWRT, and so far I tried mimicking the build configurations for RBR/S 50v1, with no success... Any help would be much appreciated...

Highly interested in a working openWRT firmware for Netgear RBS50v2 as well. Any progress or work done around that specific hardware?

Stock firmware is way to narrowed. Openvpn requires a DDNS but i dont want that.
Also interested in other options that stock vs openwrt missed out at all my previous routers.

Are you ok with using nmrpflash?
From looking at the previous posts, the nand on the V2 isn't recognised by the v1 image.
This might be an easy fix but it requires a tester who is comfortable with nmrpflash and stuff not working, have you grabbed the GPL source from Netgear for the V2 and looked through it?
I’m not very knowledgeable but can test things probably. Here is a sources from Voxel - the guy who builds very stable and good firmware’s based on factory. His firmware works on both v1 and v2 like original netgear builds. Here are his sources - maybe it’s possible to get needed information from configs:
That's from a Qualcomm SDK forked from 15.05 Chaos Calmer.
So that leaves bringing up from swconfig to dsa, and lots of other stuff.
hey @hecatae , let me know I can test the image / nmrpflash. I can open up the device and connect with serial port as well.
