Mikrotik RB952Ui-5ac2nD

I'm trying to flash Mikrotik RB952Ui-5ac2nD (hAP ac lite). The rb-nor-flash-16M-ac-initramfs-kernel.bin download from TFTP is normal.
The luci web interface is only available on the wan (1) port, port 5 is red.
When I try to update from rb-nor-flash-16M-ac-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin from luci, I get the error “The downloaded image file does not contain a supported format. Make sure you choose a common image format for your platform. "
Also tried using ssh, the image is not recognized.
Device unknown not supported by this image
Supported devices: rb-750-r2 rb-750up-r2 rb-750p-pbr2 rb-911-2hn rb-911-5hn rb-931-2nd rb-941-2nd rb-951ui-2nd rb-952ui-5ac2nd rb- 962uigs-5hact2hnt rb-lhg-5nd rb-map-2nd rb-mapl-2nd rb-wap-2nd rb-wapr-2nd rb-wapg-5hact2hnd
Tried to use sysupgrade -F, now the router boot loop
I tried different releases 06/18/1 (2) and trunk, everywhere the same error.
I need help!

It turned out to flash openwrt in router. The boot image does not determine the board, so I had to register it forcibly. Firmware goes through luci

root@OpenWrt:~# cat /tmp/sysinfo/board_name unknown
root@OpenWrt:~# echo "rb-952ui-5ac2nd" > /tmp/sysinfo/board_name
root@OpenWrt:~# cat /tmp/sysinfo/board_name rb-952ui-5ac2nd

However, after the firmware, the switch also does not work, only port 1 (wan) on which interface eth0, port 5 is red and there is no link indication is green, it looks like it is not correctly configured, but that's for sure. Also fails to enable 5G WLAN

If anyone reads my messages, please help me!
I will continue to understand.

I found this topic: [SOLVED] Unable to install lede on RB952Ui-5ac2nD - #4 by geadas

Pretty much the same issue with the same device, but the problem back then was:

The bug mentioned is here: https://bugs.openwrt.org/index.php?do=details&task_id=1715
and was committed on the 7 November 2018 according to https://git.openwrt.org/?p=openwrt/openwrt.git;a=commitdiff;h=aa0aa47aa176133ff302c4a5cea785d971bc26b3

You would expect this patch to have made it into 18.06.2, but I cannot see a mention of it in the 18.06.2 changelog against ar71xx only imx6: https://openwrt.org/releases/18.06/changelog-18.06.2

Thank you for your reply. However, this problem did not allow MDT partitions to be recognized. In my case, the partitions were recognized, probably the patch has already been added to the kernel.

Today I managed to configure the switch and the LED green port activity on this manual. VLAN did not work.

As a result, if you force a card, it is flashed normally, but there is no switch configuration and port LEDs. WLAN 5g (QCA9887) does not work, USB does not have a power port, port 5 is lit red (gpio14) it turns off if the gpio value is 0

@Pahalan

I added a potential fix for the issue to my staging tree.

Could you build and test it?

Thanks,

Koen

@xback
Hey. I unfortunately can not build an image. I can test the already built image. Thank

@Pahalan
Hey,

In the meantime a similar fix landed in the master tree, so images should je available.

Regards,

Koen

@xback
I checked today the image from the master tree, the problem persists

root@OpenWrt:~# cat /tmp/sysinfo/board_name unknown

@Pahalan

Could you share the output of:

dmesg
cat /proc/cpuinfo

I'll take a look as soon as I can.

Thanks,

Koen

Hi,

A large fix for Mikrotik board detection landed shortly after your build above.
Could you retest by building the latest 19.07 branch?

Thanks

@xback
Hi!
I can not build the last branch 19.07. Maybe there is a built image ?. There is no download on the official page 19.07. Check 18.06.4 - does not work (

Hey. I experienced the same issues as you.
I just built a the 19.07 version for this device, but have not yet tested it.
You can find it here https://gitlab.com/nkay08/openwrt-ar71xx-mikrotik-rb-nor-flash-16m-ac/tree/master/19.07/ar71xx/mikrotik.
I will test it as soon as I get home.

a whole bunch of devices in a single mach file, it is really wonder there are no more problems than just a few. probably you need to first verify your hardware version and then compare it with hw version of a user that added initial support. after that recheck gpio settings and similar.

I updated my repository.

https://gitlab.com/nkay08/openwrt-ar71xx-mikrotik-rb-nor-flash-16m-ac

You can find builds in openwrt/bin/targets/.../.... I have several branches with different build options.
For example with the useful sqm package: https://gitlab.com/nkay08/openwrt-ar71xx-mikrotik-rb-nor-flash-16m-ac/tree/19.07-luci-extra

Have you tested Dynamic VLANs configuration in this device? In my configuration I am not able to make them work. I have successfully used 8021x in other OpenWRT devices though with the same config.

wireless:

config wifi-iface 'wifinet1'
	option device 'radio1'
	option mode 'ap'
	option encryption 'wpa2'
	option auth_secret 'radiussecret'
	option dynamic_vlan '2'
	option vlan_tagged_interface 'eth1'
	option vlan_bridge 'br-vlan'
	option vlan_naming '0'
	option auth_server '192.168.2.1'
	option ssid 'ssid-radius'

network:

config interface 'vlan1'
	option type 'bridge'
	option ifname 'eth1.1'
	option proto 'static'
	option netmask '255.255.255.0'
	option gateway '192.168.2.1'
	option ipaddr '192.168.2.251'

config interface 'vlan3'
	option ifname 'eth1.3'
