It would be interesting and useful to be running benchmarks on Wi-Fi 6E AX210 chips, as they also gained fq_codel for wifi support a while back, especially against the testing of several wifi chipsets on openwrt APs, here:
Continuing the discussion from AQL and the ath10k is lovely - forum mods hopefully this thread is OK here but please move if not.
Thanks for your feedback @dtaht . Ultimately, per the title, I will run and post comparisons of the kind you are after, namely:
for stock Unifi drivers vs OpenWRT mt76
in situations of varying distance from the APs to wireless client
using both the Apple networkQuality and flent rrul
with ECN on and off at both ends
...but to begin with I was intrigued by your ide…
Well... we are laboring forward towards methodologies that work. For starters the apple folk are attempting to rigorously define and refine the methodology for the IETF over here: https://github.com/network-quality/draft-cpaasch-ippm-responsiveness and I'd recommend direct feedback.
Happy with the wifi test. Would love to see any difference on the openwrt one. The big thing worth varying to me is to test closer to the edge of your coverage range - 50' away, or through a wall or two. There laten…
as well as in the nss offloads: Validating NSS fq_codel's correctness
and in the upcoming mikrotik release: https://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?t=179307
If there is anyone out there with one of these cards in their linux laptop with a recent kernel that could run a few flent tests?
I'm also rather interested in tests and packet captures from a windows box with one of these cards.
There are a few other iwl cards worth testing also.
