yes I have a fritzbox 7490 but I couldn't flash it in OpenWrt
Mmh, for IPv6 that could work by configuring IP address relaying, not sure about IPv4.
As I said, I would try to remove the locked-down ISP router out of the set-up and replace it with something less intrusive.
Good point, maybe ask in the forum, you might not be the only Swisscom customer here, so maybe somebody else has that problem already solved.
I think there was some recent activity on the mailing list about 7490, so this might change... (but will require a recent snapshot so you will need to build your own firmware).
It's not merged yet, and even once it is, the dual-soc (wireless ath79, main SOC lantiq) will keep it 'special' - there are easier devices on the used markets for 5-10 EUR.

While not OpenWrt supported, the Draytek Vigor 16x modems are also worth looking at.
there are performance differences on the same connection of up to 10%.
Even g.Fast-enabled Fritzboxes don't reach ISP router sync values, probably isn't even possible to surpass it in g.Fast-Sync values with another router, because ISP routers and associated firmware (including DataPump) are designed to work with Broadcom chipsets also equipped. mCAN developed and optimized by Swisscom.
All true, but the proposal was to configure it as bridged modem (just running OpenWrt as OS) so the WiFi secondary SoC can be ignored, no? I liked that announcement as 7490 were quite popular here so there should be a large second hand market (HH5A's are not that convenient to source in the EU anymore, plus the initial flashing is a bit involved (or so I read, I skipped that step and payed a bit more for a HH5A flashed to OpenWrt, was cheaper than buying a soldering iron*)).
But since it appears that modern profile 35B capabable modems come with better analog stages (as seen in typically higher upload sync) the real challenge for VDSL is getting something more modern than xrx200 supported.... (for the OP that seems irrelevant)
*) Since then I have missed an soldering iron multiple times, so consider the initial decision sub-optimal in retrospection.
Mmmh, what ISP router model do you have? Some swisscom business routers allow pppoe passthrough, where telephony and iptv are still handled by the swisscom router, but internet access is handed over completely to the user's secondary router, which might be going in the right direction.
yes I had this type of configuration and ISP router until yesterday 2:00 p.m.… since then I have changed my subscription and I have returned to residential mode, another ISP router and my OpenWrt behind it, so now double nat… I can reassure you one or the other configuration does not change anything… i constantly receive from the servers an image in the past higher than the adversaries.. i will soon make the decision to change the ISP.. and if that does not change, then i I will have the satisfaction of paying my subscription 1/3 cheaper...
the brand of the router was ADB Italia
yes I had dhcp port lan 2,3,4 telephony and IPTV and internet on lan1 which I had tested to connect directly to the ps5, I had a Nat1, impossible to have better than that and yet no improvement. . having tried everything on my side, I can only put the fault on my ISP .. they surely have a bad AS, bad unfair routing between the outbound path and the return path .. and the swisscom peering does not help either .. this are cumulations that give a mediocre result for real time .. watching tv or sending an email is enough .. but that's not the goal .. knowing that if I did financial trading I would also be penalized .. and changing isp does not guarantee me an improvement if the future ISP uses the same path, the same mcan etc..
Even though their marketing material appears to be Schwizerdütsch/Allemande only have a look at Init7, they at least are/were willing to take on Swisscom/Deutsche Telekm when they played dirty. Not sure how well they are as ISP, but I would certainly try.
You surely would not do high-frequency trading from home....
so in 2020 I tested Init7, you automatically inherit a fixed IP address, a user and a password (Pppoe)and you can directly put the router you want .. unfortunately this experiment ended in failure .. and this is due to the simple fact that init7 is dependent on swisscom, because the copper line is leased .. I had to report packet losses to Init7, but the procedure is long because they have to go through swisscom to report my loss .. but maybe it's still worth trying this ISP ..
yes exactly, I don't want that in my OpenWrt network, why does it scan all the time that's how I have my antivirus telling me that I'm a victim of ARP poisoning
I had this problem when two static addresses were colliding each other. This caused jitter and what not. Just make sure static IP addresses are properly assigned to your devices
well I focused on the offline mode without internet .. this game is impossible to play the latency is rooted in the game for some reason .. I reset the ps5, installed the latest firmware version, erased game data.. and created new game data.. I have no way to make this game work.. it's impossible that the ps5 has a problem (although after 15 minutes it looks like a doesn't care so much that it heats up) moreover, strangely all my consoles are heated as if the processor is strained each time (very busy, for some reason) traffic in the background is stressing the processor of the ps5? , I don't know ).. impossible to play it's some some players are really very agile however when I play with his players they are as heavy as sumos, a tank.. I have no way out of this game .. so what's the point of playing online if initially the offline game is impossible to play due to its poor responsiveness ... I'm lost I don't know what causes this latency ...
+1; I think its well worth postponing the network debugging of that game to the point that local game play is decent again. Any other games you play that you have issues with?
Can you try limiting the frame rate? Maybe 60fps, it could reduce load on cpu and heat.
@segal_72 Couple of ideas I got it could be bcz of:
- AMSDU flaw causing ping spikes so try either released or David502s build if it's compatible.
- Just factory reset everything then test again. Then try SQM only on wan if things are good. Leave Link Layer Adaptation to default for the testing.
- Try disabling UPnP and software offload.
- Try the latest snapshot from https://asu.aparcar.org/
Thank you.
I have tried everything but without success unfortunately!
When tc -s qdisc .. sometimes I have 5 dropped and sometimes 1500.... But I also have a lot of overlimits.
Example :
(dropped 4, overlimits 563429 requeues 0)
What does overlimits mean?
I see that 10 Speedtest test does not cause any packet drop... but if I do 10 test waveform or dslreport... I accumulate packet drop... is this normal?
Use Lag Report to know which ISP offers the best connection and the lowest ping where you live:
WHAT IS THE LAG REPORT?
I think getting latency/jitter information for your specific ISP is a great idea, but make sure you try to be as targeted as possible, e.g. the "lag score" for RiotGames Valorant might not be indicative for the expected lag/jitter in EA Fifa 2022....
I think this is a counter of packets that where received while in drop mode... I think that cake's BLUE component engages based on this counter somehow, but am not 100% sure.
