Hardware list vs Firmware list: missing updates

Trying to update my EnGenius EAP600, the Hardware list, when entering this type resp. “Engenius”, shows 24.10.3 as last, stable, release.
The firmware search shows 25.12.2. I updated to 25.12.2, and it works splendidly.

Are these two not coming from the same database; or is that update delay on purpose?

It appears with the vast changes on version 25 the wiki is now mostly stale.

For my router using https://firmware-selector.openwrt.org/ gave the same firmware I chose after careful deliberation, but make sure you still get the right version not to brick your router.

Why are all topic being auto closed so soon ?
It's already quite a hurdle to create account, I know this particular topic might not warrant further discussion but autoclosing everything ends the possibility that users from google can talk to each other.

Instead they'll just give up.

Agreed.
I was surprised. I didn't want any discussion; but pointed out an existing bug.
Years ago, starting with OpenWRT, I followed the guidelines and inserted the type of router in the Hardware list, and downloaded the flash version as indicated for the initial install.
Would I do this today, I'd end up with an outdated version. Is the Hardware list really updated manually, and not assembled from the software list?

The "Solved" as indicated in the first answer was solved for a specific, very different router, for which the OP had finally found the proper version elsewhere. It didn't "solve" the problem of outdated links to firmware

At least two cents from here,

Uwe

I’m not sure why the topic was set to close earlier than the usual “10 days after the last reply”, but maybe I can help describe why further discussion isn’t really necessary (I don’t object to it continuing, but I don’t think it’ll add much value).

  • The firmware selector (https://firmware-selector.openwrt.org) will always have the latest firmware for all supported devices and is actually the best place to look for firmware in general (and to see if a device is actually supported, should that be a question).
  • The Table of Hardware typically has information for supported devices, but there are circumstances where the ToH isn’t actually updated for more recently supported hardware — this means that sometimes a device is supported even though it isn’t listed in the ToH. That means, per the first point, the Firmware Selector is the “source of truth” for currently supported devices.
  • Regarding the firmware versions listed in the ToH entries — these must be manually updated. This manual process, multiplied by ~2,000 currently suppported devices (in 25.12), is understandably very slow and is frequently outdated. Many attempts have been made to come up with automations and/or bulk-update methods, but this has proven to be difficult to achieve.

With that in mind, we always recommend using the firmware selector to find the latest version, especially for fresh installs.

That said, with 25.12, OWUT (OpenWrt Upgrade Tool) is built-in and will assist with updates moving forward (maintenance releases such as 25.12.1 > 25.12.2) and also in theory major updates when they are available such as 25.12 > 26.xx or whatever comes next). For existing installs, this means that it may be even that much easier to perform your upgrades — no need to find the download, the router can do it all for you via OWUT.

I hope this helps add clarity to the situation.
