Devolo 1750e bricked after openwrt Installation

Hi guys, I bought a used devolo1750e.
Was working well with default firmware.
Then I used the following command in SSH shell
With Winscp I copied the latest firmware to the /tmp/openwrt-22.03.5-ath79-generic-devolo_dvl1750e-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin
sysupgrade -n -F /tmp/openwrt-22.03.5-ath79-generic-devolo_dvl1750e-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin

The output og sysupgrade shows somelink like --force ... will firmware write to stdin [w] ????
The bootet the device because nothing happens

Now the device is in boot loop ... 10sek .. starts with blue (I can see a link on switch) and thats all then red led and boots again. (loop)

OK, then tried to connect the external RJ45 Serial Port, but no output on that port.

Then I read in this forum that the external serial port does not work.

OK, I opened the devolo 1750 e and noticed this board.

image

Tried to used the internal 4 ports of the serial connector and only used the ports RX and TX.

Tried then with putty on serial port and nothing to see ?

Would be great if anyone can help further or do I have produced waste ?

need to connect the GND pin too.

Ground is connected too. But still no output on console ?

swap Tx and Rx.
if still no go, disconnect the wires, short Rx and Tx..
you should be able to see your own writing in your terminal app.

OK , I changed the RX and TX and now I am ble to see garbage on the console .

image

Did I need to chnage something on the console ?

Putty uses standard serial with 9600 Baud.

https://openwrt.org/toh/devolo/wifi_pro_1750e#serial, from where you took the photo, says it's supposed to be 115200.
it's actually written right under the photo

Hm, have configured it in Putty.

image

Never had such experience with that.

Will try with short on RX and TX.

and those are incorrect .

why ?
you clearly receive "stuff", it's the speed that's wrong ...

OK, it seems you have mor technical know how with the serial connection.

When I short RX/TX I get a clean screen.
Cannot Input or output anything.

image

What do you think, my serial Cable is an old cable from USB to Serial with the profilic driver.
Kown probs whith the old driver and cable from china.

How can I dignose that the cable is working and the speed is right ?

this should work
I assume the GND wire was disconnected from the Devolo too?

that would have been the test you just did.

serial output's readable.

Settings

output on console

Have tried with loop on RX and TX and GND connected PIN5 to the GND of the male DB9.
Cannot put any character in console.

Have tried with 9600 and 115200 Baud.

Looks like cabel is broken .. should I saerch for another cable ?

the Prolific device you have, it's not for old school RS232 by any chance, instead of 3.3v ?

he said it was using the USB to Serial with the profilic driver adapter...let's hope the pins on the UART are 5v compliant...if not...oof

change Speed from 9600 to something faster...you can change that box...change from 9600 to 115200...otherwise you will get nothing but garbage

I got one of two of those too, 9 pin RS232, hence the question.

And here is the log in fine readable

Can someone tell me, what I have to do to get a working openwrt box again ?

Sorry the pictures were in the text format

And I use this Adapter .. is from china profilic 2303HX with driver from 2013 (works on Win10 and Win11)

Try option 2, and use the stock image from the manufacturer, of you can find one.

OK, I am able to use the firmware from delos.
firmware-delos-WiFi-pro-1750e-MT2785-v4.0.1_2017-10-20.bin

How to update when using

Please choose the operation:
1: Load system code to SDRAM via TFTP.
3: Boot system code via Flash (default).
4: Entr boot command line interface.

And I am wondering, cause a have another devolo1750e which I could install with openwrt Image .
But I do not know, which Images I used.

Ist there a bug in newer releases or what happend there. perhaps someone knows about a problem with newer firmware releases ?

On other devolo 1750e I get this in SSH screen

image

As I said, in my last post ?

So it worked ?
