[Banana BPI-R4] all related to MTK-SDK

Good morning, I'm sorry to tell you, but you have one of those cards, it says TX power 6dbm if you notice in the 2g band.

Could you tell me where I bought the card so I can check that store, at the moment there is no solution.

Check out that thread that I mentioned, that's where they are trying to fix it.

Look at mine, 5g speed in the third room taken a few days ago with VPN, without VPN I get almost 900 megabytes.

I'm sorry you have that card

Oh nooo :sob:

I bought it at "AliExpress Elec-Zone Store"

Good morning, thanks for putting up the shop, but I think that all the shops are currently selling the same type of card as yours. They have opened several threads on the official forum, but no one from the official Banana Pi team has deigned to answer anyone. I think that the fault is hardware, not software. They have updated something on the new cards they have manufactured, possibly something in the eeprom.

But I am sorry to inform you that no one will answer you on the official forum, and they should have come forward.

But they have not yet released anything stable for our router, which they sold to us as compatible with openwrt for all of us who have first-time cards.

Not even the images on the wiki are valid for our router.

The best image currently is from @woziwrt. There is currently no similar work on this thread.

Follow the thread that I mentioned, it is the most advanced for its type of card.

Follow the thread and if you find the error, please report it here in this thread if possible @woziwrt, I'm sure he can incorporate and extract images for the new cards

Regards

maybe deleting eeprom from dts and then replacing backup eeprom (from mt76 driver) with real eeprom from working card could solve the problem

There seems to be some progress:

My first openwrt device, community seems amazing😁

@woziwrt so base on your script, I tried to create a GH worflow but it seems that it does not work at all.
I created alternative build way, where I use theirs script, but not for building but just to copy theirs patches in this workflow.
What I spotted in my build is... that 5GHz network does not work for DFS. Dunno if it is related to my workaround patch or recent changes in netifd - in your build it does not raise any issue, where in my is raising issue with "wrong argument". I will take a look when I have few minutes.

Could you please implement this patch in your builds?

hey, Adding the patch to my build - should be available soon.
Still, 5GHz DFS might not work as expected.

Good morning @zerojj, I am not the creator of this marvel, the author is @woziwrt, surely he will listen to your comment, and if he can he will put the patch for these damn cards, that is up to him to decide.

Please, if you want, contact @woziwrt, privately and send him the thread that you have posted where it seems that they have found the solution, in case he can implement it to the best image that is currently available for our router.

Thanks for putting where you have found the error.

Greetings

I don't have the problematic board here so I can't test it. It will either work or not :slightly_smiling_face:

Does this compilation already include the eeprom patch? I have an affected board. I will install it on my Bpi-R4 and later I will post the results.

Thanks

Yes it does

Thank you sooo much again!

I can confirm I have WiFi access in my bathroom again

Edit: but cannot connect to the 5g WiFi in my bathroom, just the 2g one.
But better than nothing

Good morning @woziwrt, thanks for your full support to the openwrt community.

wise always listen to everyone who knocks on your door.

I confirm that on first generation boards both 5G and 6G work correctly, third room with VPN in between

BPI-R4_MLO_beta_2_EXT_upd-1.2

5G

6G

the only thing I don't see solved is the sfp+rj45 speed, in the versions that have all the usb modems implemented the sfp+rj45 speed doesn't go from 1.5gb to 1.8gb.

however in this version and its first version the sfp+rj45 speed is the correct one, around 7gb, on a speed of 10gb contracted symmetrically.

in its last version that worked correctly the sfp speed of this thread is the following one.

BPI-R4_filogic_14012025.zip

now I hope you can continue working peacefully towards your final project.

thanks for listening to everyone.

Good morning @Hhhhhhhh @zerojj, thanks for your tests, follow the thread in which I report a possible solution.

when they find a way to make 5g work, I'm sure @woziwrt will be able to implement the little that's left for those damned boards.

greetings

Thank you too!

Further tests show the overall reception is better but it's really wonky.
Even in my kitchen (next room to the router) the reception is off from time to time for it just to come back in the next second.

As I said I have no clue but there seems to be something new regarding the reception going missing:

Maybe we can integrate this?

Edit: unfortunately we don't need it as it doesn't fix the issue

As per some ppl this patch can't help ..

................

I'm trying to pinpoint a regression I seem to be experiencing, possibly related to the Qualcomm issues that have been mentioned? The wifi connection to an iPhone 14 and iPad Air 2024 are both much worse with the most recent builds posted here. I went back to the "BPI-R4_filogic_14012025" build and it seems better. Before using these MTK builds, I was previously on a SNAPSHOT and didn't experience the issue there either (sorry, didn't make note of the version, but it also would have predated the build from January 14th). My Pixel 7 and other devices are happy with any of the builds, just seems to be those two Apple devices. Anyone experiencing similar issues?

Good morning everyone, I'm going to tell you about 2 methods that I have used for the 10gb symmetrical that I have contracted.

This is tested with the image BPI-R4_filogic_14012025.zip

you must have your operator data in both methods.

first I will put the economic one and all the links where you can buy it.

1 ont HN8010Ts-20 this is the old model and the one they sent me although I requested this other model that is identical which is this other EN8010Ts-20, but it is the one they currently sell by mistake they sent me the old one, they offered to change it and I said no since it worked perfectly for me, the only thing in this model in vpn wireguard does not give the speeds of method 2, without vpn it does give the correct speeds, both upload and download are lower than method 2 in vpn wireguard, which I will put below I put a link where to buy it according to stores they are between 77.80 euros and almost 95 euros.

first I put a link that still sells the old one and then several links where they sell the new one

hn8010ts-20

en8010ts-20

en8010ts-20

en8010ts-20

en8010ts-20

en8010ts-20

Next, method 2 is almost 3 times more expensive, but the Wireguard VPN speeds are fantastic both up and down, I'll post photos of 3 measurements.

The only thing missing is that someone can put the eeprom in openwrt, so that it works directly, it is true that I have not even tried to put it in the official forum since nobody there pays attention to anything.

XGS-PON ONU SFP+ with web management MAC choose the 8311 version, since it has an openwrt image, and entering the data is very simple, I will also put where you download the images and pages that talk about it, currently although the banana pi r4 recognizes it directly, the speeds of 10 gigas,Link detected: No, so it is not yet operational to work directly

First I put where to buy XGS-PON ONU SFP+ with web management MAC 10 Gb/s SC/APC 1270/1577 nm.

8311 version

8311-was-110-firmware-builder/releases

This is in case someone doesn't get the 8311 version and gets the one that is 5 euros cheaper but everything goes through ssh

8311-was-110-firmware-builder

Then for it to be recognized by banana you must buy GoodTop 10Gb SFP+ OEO SFP to SFP Media Converter Dual 10G SFP+ Slots 100M/1G/2.5G/10GBase-T Fibre Media Converter

GoodTop 10Gb SFP+ OEO SFP to SFP Media Converter Dual 10G SFP+ Slots 100M/1G/2.5G/10GBase-T Fibre Media Converter

you should choose sfp1 to put the ONU XGS-PON SFP+ and in sfp2 GoodTop 10Gb SFP+ OEO SFP to SFP Media Converter Dual 10G SFP+ Slots 100M/1G/2.5G/10GBase-T Fibre Media Converter.

then banana pir will recognize it with the cable from sfp2 to banana wan

Finally you should buy an sfp+rj45 this one is 10gb-5gb-2.5gb this one is recognized without problems by banana pi

Xicom 10G RJ45 SFP Copper Module 10G/5G/2.5G RJ45 Port Transceiver 10GBase-T RJ45 Compatible with Cisco/Mikrotik Ethernet Switch

speeds with wireguard vpn with method 2

I hope I have helped those who have 10 gb symmetrical and want to have privacy since the operator's router is stored in the drawer, so the home automation you have at home does not control you, it cannot sell your data to third parties. and you never know where you browse.
