[Banana BPI-R4] all related to MTK-SDK

I tried the same with a SFP+ stick for XGSPON on the WAN port of the R4
This one

but without PPPoE hardware acceleration I only get around ~2500 Mbps speed.

Same openwrt config on a 4-core X86 gives me ~8600Mbps bandwidth.

The ISP that requires PPPoE is Digi Spain. A bit of a pain, the R4 for wifi is still useful

good afternoon @rodrigoaguilera, correct I'm with digi, with pppoe, and method 1 the speeds are correct around 7gb in download and upload, but with vppn wireguard the download is very similar to xgs-pon but the upload is 3 times lower than the images I have posted.

banana pi although it recognizes -xgs-pon all the speeds but finally says Link detected: No for it to work directly I should put yes, . the eeprom is not implemented therefore it does not see that you have it connected and if I check with putty it disconnects the wam, if they ever add it I will be able to use it directly

then I have to use method 2 with everything indicated in my post, and with the version of @woziwrt of the day BPI-R4_filogic_14012025.zip.
The speeds on the Wireguard VPN are spectacular, and above all I am looking for my privacy, with all the home automation I don't want them to know if I connect or disconnect it, apart from being able to sell data to third parties, although that should never happen, I am careful with my health, and above all, not knowing where I browse is essential too. My VPN is paid for but it is wonderful.

I am happy with it and you already have the xgs-pon, I would spend the remaining 50 euros on the converter and the sfp+rj45 and enjoy your purchase and you will see that the speeds are as expected and not the 2.5gb that it currently gives you.

Greetings

If the bananapi r4 is doing the PPPoe then those speeds you have are quite impressive.

Maybe there is a config I am missing. You can contact me via PM in Spanish since your messages seem to be translated by machine and not very clear.

@woziwrt
:smirk: any news about a new build that will make our day

5G/4G modem
Only if you have time ... its not important ..

I appreciate if you can update AT Commands (Its old version 2019) where currently 2025 . can't add commands

if you couldn't find SDK type for AT command .add luci-app-sms-tool & luci-app-sms-tool-js

Good morning, today I have put the image in the internal nand BPI-R4_filogic_14012025.zip,
I have been surprised that it has improved the speeds both in 6g, and by WAN, I put 3 speed tests, one of 6g in the same room where the router is, 2 tests in internal nand

6g

nand

nand2

For now I will use this image in the nand, until @woziwrt releases its final version.

Thanks for your work

It got a bit quiet regarding WiFi power, didn't it?
Whether here or on the GitHub page—has there been any progress on this? Does anyone know?

Good evening @Hhhhhhhh , I have had all the speed tests in this thread since the first day I posted it, there are also other colleagues who have posted theirs, we are all waiting for the final work @woziwrt, in which there will be many improvements because of what he posted.

In the next releases I expect finalization of Ethernet LRO, addition of thermal zone and additional WiFi 7 improvement. The road to the final version of WiFi 7 will probably be long because

already implemented in beta 2:

Single Wiphy Architecture
320MHz bandwidth
4096-QAM MCS12, MCS13, MCS14, MCS15
WPA3 key management (AKM24)
MLO Basic Functionality (Advertisement/Discovery/Setup)
Hardware Peak Performance (partially implemented)
and the final release should have the following MLO Post-Setup features:

Preamble puncturing (WiFi6E with FCC regularity restriction)
WiFi6E Automated Frequency Coordination (AFC)
WiFi6E Mgmt Power Enhancement
Multi-Link Operation (Advertisement/Discovery/Setup)
Multi-Link + Phy Features
Multi-Link + Security
or With RSNO
o Without RSNO (transition mode can be used here)
6GHz (WPA3 only)
6GHz (WPA3/WPA2)
Multi-Link + 4-address WDS
Multi-Link + Hardware Peak
Multi-Link channel access
o AP Support: MLSR/EMLSR and MLMR/STR
o Support: MLMR/STR
Multi-Link + Multiple Legay BSSID
Multi-Link Reconfiguration (Add/Remove Link)
Multi-Link Statistics (Per-MLD, Per-Link)
Multi-Link Channel switching (including ACS/DFS)
Link management (Adv-T2LM only)
BSS parameter critical update
Link management (Neg-T2LM)
Multi-Link + 11v MBSS
Multi-Link + 11FT
Multi-Link + WPS
Multi-Link + TWT
QoS Management R3
EPCS

I use BPI-R4_filogic_14012025.zip, and since I put it in the nand, the speeds have even improved a little, which were already good.

I can't tell you anything else, except that we have to be patient for the final project.

Yeah. There's a patched openwrt that force loads the eeprom even when the usual driver checks to load fail. It got me working power on all radios.

Is there a GitHub link where I can see the new versions or where the new versions will be posted?

Yesterday, Banana Pi released the MTK MP4.1. Has anyone tested it?

@woziwrt :saluting_face:
Thank you for sharing the new image with adding our comments

@RosendoRivas
I tested it . it was a very bad image : no functions and its has bottleneck CPUs issue like official openwrt snapshot image when you are doing speedtest you will not get full speeds also you can't add package on their image ... (summary : its bad and useless image )

Until to now there is no image like the one developed by woziwrt

Can we extract the WiFi driver from mtk MP 4.1?

@woziwrt Can advise in this question

Im only tester :smiling_face_with_tear:

I'm only facing this WiFi issue on woziwrt image where the speeds will go up after sec will go down on BE and AX modes 320mhz & 160mhz (This test was beside the router)

The WiFi speed was stable on BPI image MP 4.1 (what I mean you will not see the speeds going higher after that it will drop to down) but you can't get full speeds on their image if your speeds is higher ...

The good thing in their build the WiFi drivers and package mostly are supporting all Clints laptop and PC and phone (all wifi chips) .... Because with official OpenWRT im getting very low speeds on BE and AX (my speeds from provider 5G/4G 1.2G and im getting on wifi 60Mb/s ) because they are missing drivers for BPI-R4 wifi (my case they are not adding drivers to support computers.. laptops that has Qualcomm WiFi chips) where I reported this issue before 8 months but no action from OpenWRT

@Hhhhhhhh same thing :smirk::point_down:
I was telling OpenWRT developers on GitHub ( ticket issue) to take patches and drivers from woziwrt image (because im getting full speeds with his image) but they ignored this request by no issue

in the @woziwrt image can I add packages?

I usually use tailscale, samba, mount-utils and sqm

Yes you can. as I mentioned only one issue i'm facing it on his image but its the best image right now

thank you. I also tested it and think it works better than official openwrt. only the WiFi LED of 2G lights up blue and the 5G and 6G LEDs are off. can also use wifi led 5g and 6g

Thank you very much, @woziwrt , for your contribution. I have a question. Can your image be flashed to eMMC?. I only saw the image for flashing to an SD card.

I have first install 24.10 release image to emmc and than upgrade it with this image.
