Archer c6 v2 5G range issue

Hey I'm using archer c6 v2 us version. Router is near my bed but the 5G signal is too weak that I'm getting slow speed what can be done to fix that?

Have you tried to go into configuration for Wireless and upping the Maximum transmit power to 23dBm?

set power to default

country BD: DFS-JP
	(2402 - 2482 @ 40), (20)
	(5735 - 5835 @ 80), (30)

Basically, there is a matrix of allowed channels and Tx/Rx power for each region. That matrix is embedded into WiFi firmware and you cannot override it from Luci unless you change the country setting.

That being said, I kinda remember of problem with 5GHz power being reduced to low value regardless of setting on Archer C2 due to bug in driver. Perhaps this is the same issue?

run this command in putty?

in default it is -30 and still poor range and speed

With different client?

in wireless is but with ethernet no issue

just this sommary, disable 2.4 and try 5ghz only, probably 40mhz width

* 5720 MHz [144] (disabled)
* 5745 MHz [149] (30.0 dBm)
* 5765 MHz [153] (30.0 dBm)
* 5785 MHz [157] (30.0 dBm)
* 5805 MHz [161] (30.0 dBm)
* 5825 MHz [165] (30.0 dBm)
* 5845 MHz [169] (disabled)

with 40mhz its around 150 dl and 49 upload 2.4 is already disabled with transimation power default(-30)

check this thread also Archer c6 5G poor performance

Power the device off and onn (disconnect mains) likely burpback from swapping dfs zones, should be 20dbm in 2.4

2.4 works fine but still not full speed
5g still not full just like before i guess the problem will be unsolved :slight_smile:

If you are one day in installing reset, set country in both bands , save applyv unpower power, try one band at once.
you get roughly half of link speed to transfer, wifi is half duplex.

i did these steps but still same
so i wont be able to get full duplex at any cost?

Nope, hardly ever over half. and in BD it is very small radio band available.

What version of OpenWRT do you use? Try 23.05.5 with Archer c6 v2, as newer versions have problem with 5GHz wifi...
Or you can try this fix with 24.10.0: https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/issues/17175#issuecomment-2542733743
Also you can try custom build with “kmod-ath10k” and “ath10k-firmware-qca9888” instead of the -ct packages
