Arcadyan AW1000 (Telstra 5G Smart Modem) support- IPQ807x

I got mine from aliexpress

Thanks. Can you post the listing? I couldn't find any that still had them in stock...

These are all in stock and ship to the UK, not sure about shipping anywhere else.

How to change the firmware to this or New version

if you want openwrt - Arcadyan aw1000 telstra 5g firmware - #13 by g8ry

if you want a newer version of QWRT, you're asking in the wrong forum.

Can you send the link :pray:

The latest Qosmio's build of IPQ807X NSS seems to fully work now on AW1000, and full wifi HW offload is now supported :slight_smile:

Be sure to add this(in bold letters) to our devices' DTS file:

#include "ipq8074.dtsi"
#include "ipq8074-hk-cpu.dtsi"
#include "ipq8074-ess.dtsi"
#include "ipq8074-nss.dtsi"
#include <dt-bindings/gpio/gpio.h>
#include <dt-bindings/input/input.h>
#include <dt-bindings/leds/common.h>

AW1000 DTS File:
(your root openwrt dir)/target/linux/qualcommax/files/arch/arm64/boot/dts/qcom/ipq8072-aw1000.dts

PS: Still observing the stability of the build.

This is great news to get rid of QWRT's NSS firmware!Never been successful before :star_struck:

are you not having issues with setting up 5Ghz wifi, I can’t seem to have stable wifi on 5GHz other than channel 36. otherwise the rest of things seem to work well.

Unfortunately they don't ship to Germany :disappointed_relieved:

As much I want to share my build, it's still not recommended as a daily driver, as we are still testing and fixing a lot of things and AW1000 related functions.

Are you using the snapshot build? Or NSS build? I have no issues on CH 36 on both but usually on higher channels, maybe set your "maximum transmit power" to the driver default as it tends to break currently.

its snapshot + nss build (i merge qosmio’s latest with upstream, along with my custom defaults [wifi on, set up modem interface with modemmanager, set apn, etc..) Yes I meant its stable on channel 36 but not on higher channels. Anyway its good for now.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that you'll need to use Qosmio's Openwrt Fork to use the NSS packages as there are patches on that build.

What is your wireless transmission power? It seems that regardless of which firmware built with rep I use, my wireless transmission power under the configuration of ch38, 160MHz, US, can only reach 23dBm instead of 30dBm. Could it be that my hardware is faulty?

No, there could be different factors, one is hardware limitations, driver-related or regulations.

I can't find spec sheets of the hardware at the moment so not sure.

I always set mine to driver default since I have other mesh system.

For US country code the limit is correct:

	# 5.15 ~ 5.25 GHz: 30 dBm for master mode, 23 dBm for clients
	(5150 - 5250 @ 80), (23), AUTO-BW
	(5250 - 5350 @ 80), (24), DFS, AUTO-BW
	# This range ends at 5725 MHz, but channel 144 extends to 5730 MHz.
	# Since 5725 ~ 5730 MHz belongs to the next range which has looser
	# requirements, we can extend the range by 5 MHz to make the kernel
	# happy and be able to use channel 144.
	(5470 - 5730 @ 160), (24), DFS
	(5730 - 5850 @ 80), (30), AUTO-BW
	# https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2021/05/03/2021-08802/use-of-the-5850-5925-ghz-band
	# max. 33 dBm AP @ 20MHz, 36 dBm AP @ 40Mhz+, 6 dB less for clients
	(5850 - 5895 @ 40), (27), NO-OUTDOOR, AUTO-BW, NO-IR

You are not able to run 160MHz width on channels 36-64 with 30dBm power.
