I have tplink ac 600 linked here: https://www.amazon.com/wireless-USB-WiFi-Adapter-PC/dp/B07P5PRK7J/and I'm decently sure that drivers exist for it, however they are not preinstalled, I know it's not a good wireless device for the applications I'm using it for but if someone could just help me get the drivers to work, I think the chipset is RTL8811AU however I'm not exactly good at finding that type of stuff, from what I've read I think there is a driver and would just like to know what commands to type in ssh, I am willing to provide any files needed that I know how, thanks. I accidentally deleted the first two posts, I'm not a bot, I'm just a little stupid, my bad for any confusion caused.
I'm not seeing any packages related to the rtl8811 series devices in the standard repo:
root@openwrt:~# opkg list | grep rtl88
kmod-rtl8812au-ct - 5.15.137+2021-11-07-39df5596-1 - Driver for Realtek 8812 AU devices comfast 912-ac, etc
kmod-rtl8821ae - 5.15.137+6.1.24-3 - Realtek RTL8821AE support
rtl8821ae-firmware - 20230804-1 - RealTek RTL8821AE firmware
rtl8822be-firmware - 20230804-1 - RealTek RTL8822BE firmware
rtl8822ce-firmware - 20230804-1 - RealTek RTL8822CE firmware
Hmm all I could find was this but I know this is not the standard repo
apologies in advance if im asking too much
the thread you linked shows the same drivers I listed... it is possible it works with the 8811 (even though they are for the 8812 and 8821)... you can give it a shot and see if it works.
thanks for the help sorry for the annoyance im quite a newb
not a problem. Welcome to OpenWrt !
Also, for the benefit of future readers, let us know of those drivers do (or do not) work for the 8811 series devices.
They do not, I sadly bought the adapter because I read somewhere on the forum to. buy it, but it seemed the user was misinformed or had the "frankendrivers" as someone said.
Good place for reading up on Linux USB wifi
Before you knock yourself out,
If you ask that question for that item, on that page, you will find out it is designed to be a client only.
From the manufacturer:
The Archer T2U Plus is designed to function as a USB, dual-band AC600 Wi-Fi adapter. We cannot guarantee its functionality for purposes outside its intended design.
Here is a list of USB radios, they are listed as either client or both; if you read the ledger.
i honestly just need it as a client
please help me compile the drivers or anyone please. I tried but after a while it becomes incredibly frustrating
welcome to club Realtek, the only fee is price of the hw you buy.
realtek making me work harder than half their employees to do this
I have no experience with this but it is a MediaTek ( MT7610U).chipset and has a reputation that it plays well with Linux asd PIs; dual band but only one in AP mode.
