Hello all,

I have recently purchased the WRT1200AC router, so far very impressed.

I have installed the latest version of caiman onto the unit. I would like to setup port based VLANS. I would like to connect my home network to port 1, my work laptop to port 2 and then ports 3 and 4 are for childrens pc's etc. i would also like wifi to be on a separate vlan to the wired network.

Is this possible with the firmware, I have tried but I cant see eth2/3/4 listed under the interface.

In OpenWRT interfaces and the switch are configured with files listed in the /etc/config directory (network, switch).

Thanks. so i will need to ssh into the unit and edit the file you stated, no way this can be done from the gui?

on wrt1200ac luci switch might be disabled
follow this link/post regarding activation
https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php … 38#p287438

basically you have to define a port for every vlan(from switch section) then you have to configure a different interface assigned to each vlan(interfaces section); keep in mid that wlans are bridged to the configured interfaces so if you want that those separate vlans also have wlan you have to create a different wlan interface from luci>network>wifi and bridge it to the required vlan
luci>network>switch
luci>network>interfaces
see that sw port3=lan1 and sw port0=lan4
switch port layout https://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/linksys/wrt1900ac

ps: get a TTL usb serial adapter as if you make any errors inside these files.. you woldnt be able to connect to router and you can activate safemode only using serial adapter

If so, where? Everywhere I've been, have had the WRT1900ACv2, even though they have the shelf labelled WRT1900ACS.

Edit:

After doing more digging, maybe someone can answer this question.

Is the WRT1900ACv2, running the 1.6 processor, even though the box says 1.3?
there seems to be alot of conflict on that.

Yes, I own a V2.  1.6ghz processor, 512mb of ram.

I have the 1900ac running 15.05.  Often when doing a ping -t google.com I get output along the lines of:

This is all internet traffic.  I get disconnect from my games.  This PC is directly wired to the router.  I've got this after the router has been up for days or seconds.

In the log the closest thing to an error I see is multiple
kern.err kernel: [ 2423.194956] ata1: illegal qc_active transition (00000000->00000400)
what does that mean?

How can I debug what my problem is and make this reliable?

Guys, quick one. What's the status on trunk in terms of stability?

So i am really new to this, i was wondering how do i access trunk? ( and when in trunk do i have to build the latest build myself or will there be a folder with the img on it),

Also i have a fresh router, if i have to build the latest image myself would somebody be able to share the latest version that also has LuCi ( not sure how to tell if it has it or not, and what it is) i tried reading through the wiki but i did not find enough answer all i know is the latest offical fw is 15.05 but i rather the recent builds im sure they have more improvements regardless if there ends up being more bugs down the line.

New binaries from the CC branch with the latest driver has been uploaded to my directory

Thank you very much!!

One question (pearhaps a noob one, sorry about that if it’s the case).

I currenly have installed on my WRT1900ACS the image you had in your directory previously to the one of today: “CHAOS CALMER (Chaos Calmer, r47165)”.

Can I perform an OS upgrade with the squashfs-sysupgrade tar file ?

Or should I install stock and then flash the squashfs-factory image file?

Thanks in advance!

As long as you didn't replace your shell with bash or did other intrusive changes, sysupgrade should work just fine smile

Hi, I've looked around and I didn't find some information that I think is useful.  Do you think it would be a good idea to add information to the wiki like:
- which options to chose to build WRTxxxxAC Vx from OpenWRT sources
- how to add packages like Luci into the image
- tricks like choosing specific driver version

If not, where can I find this information?  I honestly tried to read all pages but I think I missed it.  This forum has 352+ pages now.  I also tried the search and it didn't work for me; maybe because my first language is not English and I don't chose the right words.  Thanks in advance.

Walmart has V2 in stock.

@Kaloz

It seems we still have the soft irq issues (not as bad as before)
Core 0 is running at ~ 10 %

well just for fun I went and grabbed one to check, it is certainly running at 1.6ghz.

Question :

Can the images for "ACS" run on the "V2".

@doITright
OpenWrt Designated Driver r47661 / LuCI Master (git-15.330.41453-ce04adb) Kernel Version3.18.23
The softirq surprised me also. I avg. about 1387 a sec. per radio but core 0 is just under 5% raised the fan on temp to 65 and avg. temp no load 60 to 61 deg. I can live with it if I have to. I am curious why it can't be cut in half unless there is someone connected to a radio. Also unlike the previous .14 if I shut off one radio no real difference in temp. The best part is transfer speed has increased by around 40% to 35MB on a simple download ftp test usb3 ntfs drive. Up sucks, only about 5 MB but that is probably a ntfs issue.

From what I have noticed so far, the network file transfer speed seems to be a touch better than on .13 but with a 7 C penalty

Streaming seems to be choppy (youtube/Netflix).... probably due to the IRQ thing....

Will do a power cycle to see if things improve but if they do not I will be jumping back to .13

New drivers + nyt's patch

Preliminary testing shows good and stable wifi speeds (Nexus 6P) (mind you I only get 180 mbps so ymmv)

are you doing any builds for WRT1900Acv2?

Just an fyi for those who care.  I found that the "mpstat" command supplied by opkg package "procps-ng-sysstat" is a great utility for measuring CPU and soft IRQ's (among many others stats) as a replacement for the older "top" .

For instance this is my mamba running 10.3.0.13 driver under iperf3 load.

Time to test Kaloz's build with the same utility.

Dont got a v2 so i dont want to put out a build that might be broken.

Everything works when building trunk with .14

However, when trying to build with the .13 driver, the build fails at the patch:

Applying ./patches/100-drop_old_api.patch using plaintext:
