Zerotier doesn't have network interface

Dear all,

I would be very grateful for help with resolving a problem that I have following installing Zerotier on a BT hub 5 running OpenWrt 19.07.2 r10947-65030d81f3.

I have generally followed the wiki instructions but it does not create the "zt" network interface and it therefore shows as not connected in my zerotier account.

I wonder if I may need to manually create it? It doesn't show up when I do "ip a", nor in Luci. If so, there are no helpful instructions that I can find.

The config file is as per the wiki. When I do "logread grep zerotier", it returns a "network unreachable" error. Zerotier cli info says it's online. zerotier-cli get portDeviceName returns "unknown network ID, check that you are a member of the network".

The BT hub is daisychained from the (cable) modem/router, though I doubt ths is the problem.

I can't find any relevant advice via Google, alas, and would really appreciate some help.

Thanks very much in advance.

Chris

19.07 needs to be upgraded. In 19.07 the syntax of the config file was different than it is now. If you use the new syntax Zerotier won't be configured with your network ID.

After starting Zerotier the first time it will have a new local secret. You then need to go to the Zerotier Central site and authorize the node.

zerotier-cli listnetworks

Thanks very much for that info. I was wondering if something like this was the problem. Should I just upgrade to the latest version, or is there a better one for my device?

The latest stable release, always.
