Generally that is a sign that your router is not connected to the Internet.

What is the output of the following two commands (you don't need to type the # and the comment that follows).

nslookup www.google.com # Find the IP address for www.google.com
ping -c 3 www.google.com # Try three times to send an "are you there?" packet to www.google.com

server : unkknow
address : 10.8.8.1

Non-auth answer
name : google.com
address : 172.217.17.142

ip address must be specified

can you come to my pc and see whats going on here ?

I wouldn't advise you ask strangers to take control of your computer and router.

How are you connected?

What is the message from opkg update?

If ping google.com worked (response received) this should not happen. Does ping downloads.openwrt.org work?

it get ping !! i dont know whats going on here !

anyone ?

please help me :frowning:

iam crying :frowning:

How about you:

  • stop crying (you may damage circuity)
  • answer me

Cable, DSL....?

This doesn't make much sense to me. The error message is telling you that there is no such command as "Downloading". It looks like you cut and pasted the output from the terminal back in as commands.

(Please also use the preformatted-text button </> for terminal output and code)

"wget returned 4" indicates a network failure

There is still something wrong with your Internet connection. You might try something like what I just tried on one of my boxes

jeff@office:~$ cd /tmp/
jeff@office:/tmp$ wget http://www.google.com/
Downloading 'http://www.google.com/'
Connecting to 216.58.195.68:80
Writing to 'index.html'

jeff@office:/tmp$ wget http://downloads.openwrt.org/releases/18.06.2/targets/ramips/mt76x8/packages/Packages.gz
Downloading 'http://downloads.openwrt.org/releases/18.06.2/targets/ramips/mt76x8/packages/Packages.gz'

Writing to 'Packages.gz'
Packages.gz 100% |*******************************| 71377 0:00:00 ETA
Download completed (71377 bytes)
jeff@office:/tmp$ rm index.html
jeff@office:/tmp$ rm Packages.gz

Only cut and paste what follows the $ as a command after the # on your box, not the jeff@office ... $ part, and not the responses I showed.

I used DSL and the DSL is connected with router with cable

Is WR840N LAN port or WAN port connected to your modem?

Did you try ping form router or PC ?

its LAN
yes it pinged

  • Please use one post to reply to multiple persons, we can all see
  • Please follow @jeff's instructions:
cd /tmp/
wget http://www.google.com/
wget http://downloads.openwrt.org/releases/18.06.2/targets/ramips/mt76x8/packages/Packages.gz
rm index.html
rm Packages.gz

Please let us know if those two downloads were successful.
