Hi,
what are the recommended packages for WPA3 and 802.11ax??
Just use whatever that is the default. There are no alternatives to those.
(x86_64 has no default WiFi, the OP still needs to know what packages)
See "Customize installed packages" section at: https://firmware-selector.openwrt.org/?version=23.05.2&target=x86%2F64&id=generic
go to Luci/System/Software and search for "mt7".
This gives you a list of Mediatek Wifi kernel modules and Wifi firmwares. Select according to the Wifi chips names
Thanks for the help, at the moment I'm testing with hostapd-openssl, WPA2/WPA-Personal seems to be good so far, I still have to work my way into it, I haven't been interested in the details of WiFi for years.
WPA3 is built in. Once you have wifi up and running on supported hardware it should work to just change the encryption type on the AP from psk2
to sae
.
Of course your client needs to support WPA3. If you have some old clients that are WPA2 only it is recommended to create a second SSID for them rather than try mixed encryption.
