Wonderful Forum Format!

In the course of getting my OpenWRT router up and running and customized I've visited a lot of forums, but hands down the OpenWRT forum uses the coolest software. By that I mean all of the nifty features that suggest forum topics as you type a new topic, give you real time notice that someone is replying, easy to see timelines within a thread, etc. I assume JavaScript is being used, but what is the underlying software? Is it off the shelf or custom written by the OpenWRT forum developers? Either way, hats off for a very nice website....

The forum software is https://www.discourse.org/

Thanks! Keep up the great work, it's a really powerful platform and a lot of excellent users on the forum....

Oh, the website for Discourse says it costs $100/mo. to use. Who is paying that for our forum??

The software is free, if you install it own your own server. The $100/month fee is when you need them to host it for you. But open-source projects can get it hosted for free. It's all in their homepage.

That's great! I was just looking around to see if the OpenWRT project was soliciting donations to help with expenses, but I couldn't find anything. Still, I am grateful for what the project developers and all the forum moderators and users do....

Just noticed this wiki page looks to be a draft under inbox. @tmomas , probably should move this to somewhere on the wiki that is restricted for editing by admins only (eg stop someone editing the page to include their own their own account details to skim donations).
