Wifi issues BTHomeHub5a (packet trace attached)

Hello folks,

Since I got this Pixel 3 XL I have been almost totally unable to use wireless with it and the BTHomeHub5a as AP since most apps such as Linkedin, Facebook, Twitter, Skyscanner, Reddit, etc will report no internet connectivity, even though phone is connected and there clearly is internet connection. The very same issue is occurs when trying to browse a good variety of websites. No issues when pinging any external IPs/ DNSs.

I raised a bug with Google but I have yet to hear from them https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/119440208

In this packet trace I just collected chrono24.co.uk is taken as example, and should showcase the behavior and issue I am reporting https://goo.gl/upWWKC

Any idea of why this particular phone is facing this issue solely and exclusively with this router?

The BTHomeHub5a has been factory reset, flashed back to latest stable OpenWrt 18.06.1, r7258-5eb055306f, tried with and without wireless encryption, no go. Issue affects both 802.11 and 802.11ac, on all channels available and 20mhz, 40mhz and 80mhz.

Phone has been factory reset multiple times and is now on latest December Android Pie patches.

I would appreciate if anyone could help me read this small packet trace, make better sense out of it and perhaps help me with any idea on whether the issue is with the phone or with the AP rather.

Thanks

Other devices connected on the same router via cable or wifi have the same problems?
If you connect to another wifi or use mobile data, everything works fine?

As stated before, no problem with any other devices connected with the router via either WiFi or LAN.

As of now I couldn't replicate this issue on this phone with any other AP.

From the packet trace we can see the device resets the connection on the remote server, while on the device you get a "internet connection" error, as if internet is missing. Why? I have no idea. But this is been going on for nearly 3 months and I wish someone with more experience could look into this.

Thanks

You never stated that in the original post, but anyway.

I went through your trouble ticket to Google and you mention:

Looks like a phone issue to me, ask them for a replacement.
