WiFi Extender with P.DG A4001N

I have a PDG A4001N and I followed this walkthrough to configure it as a wifi extender.

I end with the client wifi disabled:

extender

Am I doing something wrong, or the router is not capable of working as a wifi relay?

You may have challenges with the Broadcom BCM43225 wireless chip in use by that device. There are often driver limitations for Broadcom wireless chips.

What is the output of iw phy0 info around interface combinations? In particular the section that looks like (from an Archer C7):

	valid interface combinations:
		 * #{ AP, mesh point } <= 8, #{ managed } <= 1,
		   total <= 8, #channels <= 1, STA/AP BI must match, radar detect widths: { 20 MHz (no HT), 20 MHz, 40 MHz, 80 MHz }
