Wi-Fi Extender/Repeater - no IP from Host

Experts,

based on the manuals
https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/network/wifi/relay_configuration
https://invidious.nerdvpn.de/watch?v=Bfmx5NjIWLQ
i have tried to establish a WLan connection to the Host.
After the network scan and the selection of the WLan Host, I do not receive an IP of the Host. I can see the correct MAC-Adress.
What could be the problem?

The Host has a different IP than the Client (static), the password for the WLAN connection matches that of the host.

Add wwan to this firewall zone by adding the following:

	list network 'wwan'

Ok, but it will proceed later in the manual/video...why should be the missing FW rule the issue??

thx
neuro

I’m not watching the video. What is the rule it proposed?

Oh, I also missed that it was here - remove it from the lan zone.

Ok, the manual
https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/network/wifi/relay_configuration
first describes the WLan connection with the IP

and much further down the implementation of the WWAN FW rule.

Why does it works without FW rule or is it the flase description?

neuro

Oh, I didn’t realize you were trying to setup relayd.

Nevermind my comments. Sorry.

Your idea is correct that I wanted to connect 2 WLANs with one another...

wo can I find the correct manual??
I only find the manual relayd...

root@OpenWrt:~# cat /etc/config/firewall

config defaults
	option input 'REJECT'
	option output 'ACCEPT'
	option forward 'REJECT'
	option synflood_protect '1'

config zone
	option name 'lan'
	option input 'ACCEPT'
	option output 'ACCEPT'
	option forward 'ACCEPT'
	list network 'lan'
	list network 'wwan'

The Relayd manual is correct, afaik. I have never used it, personally.

You might start over and follow the wiki guide, making sure to follow every step exactly.

COuld it be the issue that I have not the same branches on both routers...
(Client)Router 1 - openwrt-23.05 branch (git-24.264.56413-c7a3562) / OpenWrt 23.05.5 (r24106-10cc5fcd00)
(Main)Router 2 - uCI openwrt-21.02 branch (git-22.335.71649-0ecaf74) / OpenWrt 21.02-SNAPSHOT r15812+1075-46b6ee7ffc

Thanks

That is old.

What is the output of

ubus call system board

It's a Flint2, GL-iNET

So you have gl-inet’s firmware on there.

You can install official OpenWrt on your main router. And, if you do that, you can use wds or even 802.11s mesh, either of which will be much easier to configure and more reliable than relayd.

Thanks for your hint.
It's correct to implement on boths sides a new WLAN-Network - AP(WDS) and Client(WDS) - to conncet with each other?
How to implement it via 802.11s??

Thanks
Neuro

Take a look though the documentation for each method and let us know if you have questions.
