Why is my OpenWRT Router showing this kind of characters

Hello Everyone,

I am currently in my first year of an IT apprenticeship. We installed OpenWRT on a TP-Link TL-WDR4300 v1.3 via the TP-Link interface as an update file, which we uploaded without any problems. OpenWRT is running and works fine.

The TP-Link router has 3 ports on the board that can be used to connect and read the console, for example, with Putty.

When we did this and connected the cable to the board as shown in the pictures, we got unreadable output in the console when starting the router, with no normal characters displayed.

The COM port was correctly set (COM3), the baud rate was also set correctly to 115200 (we also tried other speeds such as the default 9600 and 38400). We also tried different settings for the data bits, parity, and flow control.

We can’t think of any solution anymore, and we’ve also checked the translation and the cable. Does anyone know why we are getting this output and not a readable one?

I suppose you mean "three pins"? It has just one serial port on board.

It's still possible that the cabling is wrong. What did you connect where? And which cable did you use? You need a 3.3V TTL cable.

Looks like the ground wire isn't connected correctly

Yes sorry i mixed up the English Words.
I will try a USB to TTL Cable.

I guess this should be the solution then.
