Whois binary - cannot find providing package

Hello community,

unfortunately I couldn't find anything in the forums regarding this topic.
I am unable to find the package which provides "whois" - is there even one?

Thanks!

Regards,
Steffen

It’s an optional part of busybox
# CONFIG_BUSYBOX_DEFAULT_WHOIS is not set

Hello lantis,

so basically to get it, I would need to build my own image - correct?
Thanks!

Steffen

Yes, however it would be a better idea to package whois instead of changing busybox default which seems pretty much straight forward. If you decide to go this route, please use libidn2. Haven't looked what's different between Debian and upstream however

That's the way i would do it

Hello diizzy,

thanks for your answer. This seems to be way too much of a hassle to have whois.
I am pretty happy with the default OpenWRT build, so I will just live without it.

Steffen
