Hi,
I was trying to identify commonly available non-x86 OpenWrt routers, with WiFi support in OpenWrt, and which also have hardware AES encryption support in OpenWrt - either through support for AES instruction set in CPU, or through support for on-silicon crypto engine. Primary use case is for increased VPN throughput.
So far, I have only found the WRT family of Linksys routers (WRT1200, WRT1900, WRT3200, WRT32x) and the Turris Omnia/Mox, both of which have the Marvell Armada SOC, with the dual CESA cores for hardware AES support. I was very surprised that I could not find any other.
Surely, there must me others, as of 2021, perhaps with SOCs from other chip vendors like Qualcomm, Mediatek, Broadcom (i.e. those with brcmfmac WiFi driver support), etc?
Do you know of any such routers currently supported, or perhaps in the pipeline for being supported, which I may have missed out on? Thanks.
