What is u-boot mod?

I have TP-Link Archer AX80 with U-boot layout. And I saw this u-boot mod. What is that? Why would someone use it?

You're very active on this forum, multiple times daily, I'm sure you will find its search function, it has been explained multiple times already.

I did but all I get is of how to add support for that, not about why it could be neccessary. I assume this is for A/B partitioning and stuff? Spare partitions?
I found this on a wiki page:
Amongst the standard sysupgrade firmware for the barebones Unifi 6 LR router that comes with the stock Uboot, there is also a “uboot mod” version that takes advantage of the dual-boot and ARM Trustzone but they are a little more complicated to flash. This version works by flashing the preloader, uboot and recovery partitions in addition to the rootfs/OS partition. There isn't much benefit other than having slightly more storage space, debugging crashes and making use of fallback dual-boot partition. The instructions for flashing this version are as they follow:

ubootmod (where I've used it) maximizes flash space.

TR3000 goes from ~45MB to ~90MB.

I don't understand what's the difference between that and U-boot layout? They look the same to me?

one is the layout, the other the modified boot loader enabling it ?

You also modify the bootloader in u-boot layout? Like in MR90X.

read the instruction in the link provided ?

Not much benefit for my device it seems?

depends on if you need more flash space or not ...

Just so you know I made another topic for AX52 PRO, because the topic wasn't mine to begin with. And it was very confusing to see if it was supported or not with all those messages if it works or not. I hope that's ok?
