VRX288 Hardware Design Guide - or alternatives?

I need to create a small number of bespoke router/modem devices which can run OpenWRT with VDSL2 functionality.

The best option seems to be to base it on VRX288 but I’m struggling to get hold of the hardware docs or even a basic pinout. I’ve got a ticket open with MaxLinear but have been waiting a few days so far and don’t expect much success as it’s obviously discontinued.

I can ‘obtain’ sufficient VRX288 + VRX208 chips

Better still, can anybody suggest any more readily availability components with easier accessible documentation? The requirements are quite basic:

  • SOC to run OpenWRT
  • RMII / RGMII MAC interfaces (ideally 2x)
  • VDSL AFE (internal or separate)
  • don’t need any WiFi, VoIP, etc

If it already runs Openwrt (from here), why would you need the DOCs?

We need to move it to our own bespoke pcb due to physical interface and footprint requirements
