It sounds like the OPNsense device may not be properly configured.
OK, I will save this configuration, reset the openwrt, reset OPNSense to just have 1 lan interface, connect LAN-LAN to OPNSense and I will try to go from there
Make sure that opnsense is configured such that both vlans are tagged on the Ethernet port.
I saved the openwrt configuration, reset the openwrt router, I changed the OPNSense to just having a LAN ip address, redid the configuration, disconnected the ethernet cable and restarted it. I logged in to the openwrt router and loaded the previous configuration and it worked. Thank you so much!
I will expand this with wifi and an additional VLAN now that you have shown me the way to get this up and running.
