Using Extender with OpenWrt Router

Hi, I recently installed OpenWrt on my main Tp-Link router which is connected to my modem.
Now in my home network, I also have a D-Link extender (which doesn't support OpenWrt and is running stock firmware).
I can connect my extender with my OpenWrt router following the instruction given by d-link and I am easily able to use my extender without making any changes to my OpenWrt router. Now the difficulty is usually the D-link extender setting lies at IP 192.168.0.1, but after connecting my laptop with the extender I can't access this IP address. On using ipconfig I can only see the Ip 192.168.1.1 which takes me to Luci, not d-link's controller page.

Can anybody help me in understanding why this is happening and how I can reach my D-link setting page?

PS: I have given a static lease to my extender by clicking on Set Static in Active DHCP Leases shown on the overview page of Luci.

Update: Few minutes I lost all internet connectivity with my extender. From my mobile, if I connect to my extender I can see the error that it wasn't assigned Ip Adress. After some time without me doing anything I got the internet connection back in my extender. When I look at the Luci interface I can see that my extender got a new IP with a new timer for lease. Have no idea why it ignored the static lease I set earlier for older IP.

Is your extender connected to main router by wired? You need set static IP of your D-LINK extender to the same subnet as your main router, i.e. 192.168.1.xxx. I have netgear wifi extender, I set ip to 192.168.10.4(my main router is 192.168.10.1), I can access both of them

Hi, thanks I will try your suggestion but before that my extender stopped getting an IP and I can't connect any device to my router. I have checked and my extender is working fine with other non-OpenWrt connections.
PS: My extender is not connected with wire through the router but through wifi signals.
