USB storage device - simple local access to computer?

Hey!

I've managed to connect and format a USB storage device to my router, now I need I simple & secure way to access it via my local Macbook (solutions for Ubunto & Debian works as well). Could I somehow connect the USB drive with a local folder on the desktop?

I've been using the app "cyberduck" to connect to OpenWRT via sftp to make changes to USB drive, but I'd like to explore other solutions to connect to the device.

NFS, if you don't have any windows devices, samba (or ksmbd/cifsd) if you do.
