UPnP not working on CC 15.05.1, but ports added

Hi,
I have the following configuration:

TP-Link TL-WDR4300 v1
OpenWrt Chaos Calmer 15.05.1 / LuCI 15.05-149-g0d8bbd2 Release (git-15.363.78009-956be55)

Configuration resume is:

  • 2 lan networks, one for workers, other for clients.
  • 2 wifi ap, one for each network.
  • OpenVPN installed and configured for workers network.

I need to install and configure UPnP and NAT-PMP, so I followed some tutorials, basically doing:

install miniupnpd and luci-app-upnp
enable them
restart firewall

All seems to work, when from my client software I ask for a port forwarding it seems to be ok, the response is OK and then in luci Services>Upnp also apears correctly, but, the port is not accesible.

If I configure the port forwarding from the firewall it works, so, I think it's something like UPnP is doing the port forwarding BUT not configuring firewall to allow those packets go to it's WAN->LAN destination.

Any idea/help?

Thanks!

With that open request, while you probably don't want to hear this

  • Upgrade to 18.06 or later as Chaos Calmer is out of formal support and is known to be insecure due to its age and known security vulnerabilities in its kernel, application software, and protocols (such as 802.11).
  • Speaking of security, do you really need UPnP? Many consider the risks of letting other hosts controlling your firewall to be a first-order security problem. These days, most applications don't really need UPnP to function.

  • There is no update for my router model, latest is 15.05.1
  • About security, is just for testing purposes, I want my software to interact with clients UPnP router if it's enabled, this wont be a final configuration.

Thanks for your suggestions!

That is incorrect.

Hey! Thanks mate, but, where did you get it?
I normally search for firmwares and updates from here:

Notice at the top of that page you linked that it says

What a stupid mistake from my part, thanks mate!

Hi there when you update you would be best off not saving any of your settings. Some of the config files have changed and mite make your router do verry strange things. lol You can try and flash saving your configs if you like and it mite work, but it sound like you use your router for work.

You were right, yesterday after the update I couldn't make it work neither. Today I've made a clean install and now UPNP/PMP is working perfectly (were I enabled it).

Thanks!
