Upgrading Linksys WRT1900AC to 21.02 fails

We have a Linksys 1900 AC we are trying to upgrade with OpenWRT installed.
We last updated in 2019.

I get the following error when upgrading:
The uploaded image file does not contain a supported format. Make sure that you choose the generic image format for your platform.

I am using the web interface and uploading the *.bin file.

We are trying the to use the following:
openwrt-21.02.2-mvebu-cortexa9-linksys_wrt1900ac-v1-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin
openwrt-mvebu-cortexa9-linksys_wrt1900ac-v1-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin

Please help.

Follow the instructions presumably seen on the GUI upgrade screen, force upgrade, do not keep config. Many threads on this topic to be found.

Thanks for the post:
I do not see a force upgrade.
I have selected "do not keep config"

Does the filename end with *.bin

As you are on a mamba device, there is a kernel reservation space change which will require you to use the factory image rather than the sysupgrade image.

" As you are on a mamba device, there is a kernel reservation space change which will require you to use the factory image rather than the sysupgrade image."

Thank you ! How do I install a factory image:

Use the Firmware Selector to download the factory image.

https://firmware-selector.openwrt.org/?version=21.02.2&target=mvebu%2Fcortexa9&id=linksys_wrt1900ac-v1

Then, "upgrade" using that image, and don't keep your configs.

You might back them up first and use them as a guide reconfigure for 21.02

The devicepage https://openwrt.org/toh/linksys/wrt1900ac should have some useful information on that.
