Upgrade from 24.10.0 to 24.10.1 still as 24.10.0 on Xiaomi Mi Router 4A (100M International Edition V2) (ramips/mt76x8)

hi. i have Xiaomi Mi Router 4A (100M International Edition V2) (ramips/mt76x8). I tried to upgrade to latest Openwrt. but I can't. after reboot it return to 24.10.0. sometime router reboot as soon as firmware uploaded just before flashing. I tried to upload firmware to tmp. A few seconds after the upload was completed, the router restarted. The file was also deleted.

so how can I upgrade from 24.10.0 to 24.10.1?

Do you flash default image?

no firmware builder image. added some extra packages

show df -h & free -m maybe ram is very low.
Try [OpenWrt Wiki] owut: OpenWrt Upgrade Tool if that helps

# df -h

firmware is 10.748.741 bayt (10,8 MB / disk)

Does the default sysupgrade image work?

I can't try the default image because I'm about 500 km away from the router.

I see you posted here

and that you could not add fitblk. You really need to get access to it and try the default image as lleachii stated if fitblk does not work.

thanks for your suggestions...

I don't know what else you expect people to post... like you have to have access to a router to you know.... do stuff...

What a logical person would have done was wait till they had access to the router and then posted so proper steps could be taken...

I'm going to do this anyway, but until then I thought maybe someone who has experienced the same thing before could help me. Aren't forums useful for this?

I am familiar with upgrading routers hundreds of kilometers away.

  • I always test the sysupgrade on an identical local device
  • If the image doesn't work (which is rare, albeit I don't make such large images), I test the official image

You only need the VPN package or whatever used for remote access. You don't need to build some mega image with additional packages.
