Upgrade firmware on PC engines easy task?

Hi all,

I am wondering on the upgrade process for a PC engines device (APU 2/3).

The specific page for this device (https://openwrt.org/toh/pcengines/apu2) indicates that the upgrade happens with the same image as the first install. This in combination with this link (https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/installation/openwrt_x86) seems to indicate that using a PC engines will result in a complete reconfigure of the device with every upgrade or putting back backups every time?

Correct, this might make life slightly easier, depending on what your pain point is Sysupgrade help for x86_64 - #14 by frollic

Sysupgrade on x86 devices works in the same way as on other devices, including keeping configuration. The only difference is that there is no separate sysupgrade image. Just make sure to use the exact same image type as you used for the initial installation (e.g. squashfs-combined). Switching between ext4 and squashfs or between regular MBR and EFI images is not going to work.
